Underworld fans get a 4-disc Blu-ray Legacy Collection with four films: Underworld, Evolution, Rise of the Lycans and Awakening. This release adds Awakening to the Blu-ray collection but it remains the weakest of the films (the 3D version is not included but sold separately). UltraViolet Digital Copy codes are provided for the films. Overall, the picture quality is good but varies by film (the first three films could use a good remastering). However, the audio is great. There is over 5.5 hours of bonus content which is somewhat light for 4 films. Additional extras for Evolution and Rise of the Lycans would make this release a little more deluxe since the original Underworld gets the lion's share of the bonus content. Underworld fans who own the Trilogy Blu-ray collection may consider purchasing Awakening 3D on Blu-ray separately instead of upgrading to this set since it contains the same extras. The Underworld Legacy Collection is somewhat disappointing since it simply bundles the...

Great set!! Just wish they would have "remastered" the older two of the set.
Cool to get this four disc set with all four of the Underworld movies. Very disappointed Sony just repackaged the old blu rays and added the fourth one to make a set. They know that this franchise sells, so why not at least remaster the first two with the newer technologies of today. The first one was made awhile ago when blu ray technology was new. If any of the movies deserve a "remastering" it would be the first Underworld. A new hi def video transfer along with new soundtrack utilizing DTS-HD. And why use the same covers with each film housed in a blue plastic case (like typical blu ray) and not red ones or even a fold out type so the set would be thinner. These studios need to start making these "collections" collectible for the fans. But, they know how to save money AND make money. The last I checked this set is selling mighty well. Especially when you can get the whole set a few dollars more than Awakening alone.
All in all, this is a good set to show off to your friends...

Loving this show is Justifiable
As a heartbroken fan of Nip/Tuck, which just ended its 6 season run, I was keeping an eye out for another FX show I could enjoy. With FX, original series can be either hit (Nip/Tuck, Dirt) or miss (The Riches). Justified is a show I normally wouldn't have looked at even once. Being a city girl at heart, I'm not a fan of westerns or anything country. One thing I am a fan of is Timothy Olyphant. When I saw one of my favorite actors (brilliant in "Hitman") was going to be in a new show, I of course had to watch. A pleasant surprise awaited me.

It's as if Timothy Olyphant was born to be US Marshal Raylan Givens, a good ol' country boy with personal issues. After shooting a man in Miami old west style ("It was justified"), Raylan is punished by being sent back to his old home town in Kentucky to work the local cases, many involving people he knows. His estranged father, former best-friend-turned-criminal, an old flame and a complicated ex wife round out the engaging cast of...
A.k.a.: "In the Heat of the Night, the Kentucky Edition"...
Well, it is set in Eastern Kentucky, rather then in Sparta, Mississippi; still, Justified is bound to resonate with any fan of the groundbreaking In the Heat of the Night series: small-town-in-a-big-World problems being solved creatively in 60 minutes or less, but without the annoyingly preachy tone that In the Heat of the Night would sometimes assume. A definite positive! You'll have fun making character comparisons between the two shows (can you find a "Bubba"? how about a "Luanne"?).

Let me first note that Justified is a very new show; so far, only six episodes have been aired. However, the episodes carry such an unusually high degree of promise, I feel confident rating the series, even at this early stage, with the top score.

Never saw Timothy Olyphant until the promos for Justified and he was just an actor. Until the pilot episode and then I was hooked. He is a gem and becomes Raylan Givens. I have now taken time to see other movies and shows he has been in and I say again, he steps into the boots and puts on the hat...and Raylan Givens is alive and well. The humor on this show is subtle but wonderful. FX likes their shows edgy and this is edgy but great. We are now about to see episode 5 and if you have not given it a chance, please do. You will have no regrets. The supporting cast blends like good cheese to his fine wine. Again give this show a look-see and be amazed.

Barry (as Givens's addled but still dangerous father), and William Ragsdale. Guest turns by Carla Gugino, who essentially reprises her turn as Leonard's tough deputy marshal Karen Sisco from the short-lived ABC series of the same name, as well as Michael Ironside and Jim Beaver are also fine, but it's Williamson and especially McDonough who deliver the biggest fireworks in season three, with the latter providing a compelling and repellant villain on par with Margo Martindale's Emmy-winning turn as Mags Bennett in season two. Extras on the three-disc DVD set are also top-notch and include commentary by Yost, Olyphant, and other key cast and production members on nine episodes, as well as a making-of featurette that rises above the usual encapsulation/electronic press kit approach to discuss the challenges of transitioning from season two and introducing the new antagonists; a tour of Limehouse's home turf and a look at a car explosion stunt, as well as a brief collection of deleted scenes (both of which improve the versions in the broadcast cut) and outtakes, round out the set. --Paul Gaita

The most consistently great show currently on TV.
Since I watcheed the very first episode of JUSTIFIED, I've been fanatical about this show. It's never failed to satisfy, and it just keeps getting smarter. It didn't hurt that Timothy Olyphant, a widely underappreciated actor, was playing Marshal Raylan Givens, who is probably the most unique and entertaining characters on TV since before Hugh Laurie out-lasted his stay as Gregory House. It also didn't hurt that we were getting all these great character actors like Nick Searcy as Art, Natalie Zea as ex-wife Winona, and most especially Walton Goggins as Raylan's best "frienemy", Boyd.

But where the show really seems to shine is with the casting of its villains. In Season Two, we had the extraordinary Margo Martindale as Mags Bennett, and the terrifically quirky Jeremy Davies as her son Dickie. Now in this season, we have another tremendously underappreciated actor, Neal McDonough as the eerie Robert Quarles and the great Mykelti Williamson as the quiet yet menacing Elstin...

This is one of the most awesome series on television to come along in some time!!! First season was great, tho the time scheduling was a bit of a challenge for me and I missed some at original air time and had to catch up on dvd's recorded by friends. Debated with myself if I could "justify" (lol) purchase of the actual packaged dvd sets, Volume 1 as well as Volume 2, but the "extras" included in the packaged sets made it worth the price!!! So far, Season 3 has been as good as 1 and 2. Can't beat it!!!!

Timothy Oliphant Rocks

Timothy Oliphant is a great good/grim guy. Loved him in Dead Wood (why the heck was that cancelled, anyways?) and he continues the good work in Justified. I particularly like his relationship with the "bad" guy/old friend, Boyd Crowder. Excellent in acting and execution!

Though Walt and Skyler get few humorous moments, Jesse, Hank, and ambulance-chasing attorney Saul (Mr. Show's Bob Odenkirk, an inspired addition) make the most of theirs. Jesse even gets a girlfriend (Krysten Ritter), who comes with a wary father (John de Lancie)--but there's still more shadow than light (not counting those panoramic desert shots). As Good as The Shield and The Sopranos
I'll try to keep this short. If you've read the other reviews, you know the premise of the show. It has received many accolades and some awards. But you know what, there are many really good shows out there now, and it can be hard to keep up with all of them. So if you are still undecided as to whether this show is worth an investment of your time and money, I hope this helps.

If are an avid fan of the Sopranos and The Shield, you will love Breaking Bad.

Do you remember how both of those shows would, at their very best, leave you staring at the screen, with your heart pounding, saying to yourself "Holy S---"? Well, there are moments like that in Breaking Bad. Like the Sopranos, it effectively mixes dark comedy and violence. Like The Shield, it has episodes and plotlines that are incredibly intense. And like both of those shows, it features a protagonist leading a double life. The performance of Bryan Cranston, like those of James Gandolfini and Micheal...
Surpasses the first in every way

Now that everything was established in the short first season (writers strike) the second season gets things really going.

I will not spoil but I will say this show is now falling into history. It's one of the greatest shows of all time and will most likely only get better from here.

The best thing on TV these days

I watch A LOT of TV and I can honestly say there has never been a show that was so riveting and so gripping from beginning to end as Breaking Bad. This show is a masterpiece through and through.

During the first season, we come to see how Bryan Cranston's character (acted brilliantly, by the way) could not be any more desperate. And just when you think things couldn't get more low, in comes season two with more problems and more desperation.

I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen this season, but my God, if you haven't seen it, get this DVD collection it will be so worth your time.

Tom Builder travels the countryside in search of work.

When a fire destroys Kingsbridge Church, Tom presents a plan to Prior Philip to construct a glorious new cathedral filled with light. As Philip politics for funds to aid in the church’s construction, he finds himself caught between Bishop Bigod and King Stephen’s supporter, Earl Percy Hamleigh.

Episode 3: “Redemption”

Prior Philip and Percy’s son William find themselves in a political stalemate as they compete for access to valuable stone. Jack demonstrates amazing artistic prowess as he begins to carve a monument to St. Adolphus and the destroyed Kingsbridge Cathedral. ”

Eight years have passed. Now completely obsessed with the notion of erecting Tom’s cathedral, Jack is unable to focus on anything outside of his divine calling. Aliena remains fixated on securing her family’s right to the Earldom of Shiring and thus, fulfilling the promise she made to her father.

Review :
First 2 Episodes

I can't wait till the entire piece is available because based on the first 2 episodes I was able to watch on instant streaming, it is a PHENOMINAL interpretation of the original book...one of my all time favorites. The characters are portrayed honestly and without the distraction of big name stars. Except of course for Donald Sutherland, who not only is great and recognizable, but blends to whatever character he plays and this role is no exception. The brutality, the vulgarity and the sexuality are all consistent with the historical times so these aspects are not solicitous or titillating. They portray a history that was brute force, political and survivalist in nature. It is a wonderful adaptation of a truly incredible book!

The TV series is good, but the book is better
Early in the series, I was a 5-star fan, but I knocked off a star after there were a few deviations from the plot of the book. Obviously, nearly any book that's being converted to television/movie must be abbreviated or adapted in some way; Ken Follett's original work contained a lot of internal monologue that would have been difficult to translate to screen. The show's strengths are it's epic scale, incredible level of production (sets/costumes/etc.), and PERFECT cast. I honestly can't imagine anyone else as Prior Phillip, Jack, Aliena (although she took an episode to grow on me), Waleran Bigod, Remigius, or almost any other character. So, in summary:

PROS:
- Perfect cast
- Amazing production design, locations/sets, costumes, etc.
- Epic scale

CONS:
-Plot differs from the book as the series goes on

My recommendation: enjoy the show for it's strengths, but do yourself a favor and READ THE BOOK. You will fall in love with this story...

An Ambitious Adaptation That May Not Satisfy Everyone That Loved The Book, But Still Proves To Be Entertaining
I always experience a fair amount of excitement, as well as trepidation, when I hear that one of my favorite novels is being adapted into a TV show or movie. That is certainly the case with Ken Follett's sprawling, unforgettable and absolutely massive "World Without End." The hardcover is such a doorstop in size, but I was genuinely connected to the characters and consider it an almost perfect reading experience. Ostensibly a sequel of sorts to "Pillars of the Earth" (they are set in the same location approximately two centuries apart), it is interesting to note that "Pillars" received the mini-series treatment from the Starz network in 2010. The fledgling Reelz network picked up this 8-part 2012 adaptation of "World Without End" for its broadcast debut. Reelz made a name for itself when it bought the mini-series "The Kennedys" after the History Channel bowed to pressures not to air it, and they picked up a basket full of Emmys for that decision. Here they team with Tony (RIP)...
If you have read the book, think twice....

This movie is SO incredibly different from the book. In fact, I could not even watch it all the through because I found the differences to be so distracting. On the other hand, what I did see seemed to be a fairly decent production. The acting was not bad, and the sets were tolerable. If you have not read the book AND like historical miniseries, I would say that you will probably enjoy this movie. If you have read the book, save your time. You will NOT like it at all.

A terrible adaptation and a disappointing standalone
I am a huge Ken Follett fan and would probably consider "Pillars of the Earth" my favorite book of all time. Loved "World Without End" almost just as much. I thought the Pillars TV adaptation was fantastic and did the book justice. When I heard that WWE was getting adapted, I was thoroughly excited.

Sadly, my first clue should have been that this series did not air on Starz as Pillars did, with Starz's budget. It aired here in the U.S. on the Reelz Channel and looked every bit as cheap and low budget as you would think. Production values aside, the book was just horribly adapted. I always expect some liberties to be taken when translating a novel from words to film, but the amount of liberties taken here were absolutely ridiculous. Entire plots and entire characters were changed, minimized, or disappeared altogether.

Having accepted the fact that things were going to be changed, I tried to rewatch the series and tell myself to consider it as a standalone...

The Hillbilly Whisperer
The trailers caught my attention long before the show began. Unfamiliar with Olyphant, never saw a Deadwood episode, nor any of his movies. After the first episode I became an Olyphant fan and have watched a lot of his previous work. This is the first TV series in years that I can't wait 'til the next one comes on and I'm wishing the one that's on wouldn't end. That just doesn't happen much anymore.

A buddy of my age group grew up in the sticks of mid-northern Florida before things heated up down there, then worked all over the south for most of his adult life and he is the only other person we know who is also in love with the show. He says it is very close to the way things really are in some of those "hollers" that he had to spend time in trying to sell his wares. Neither of us can believe this show hasn't caught on more. It is really a hidden gem.

Terrific show!
I'm a Lexington, Kentucky native-- with lots of family in the Eastern KY mountains and hollers presented in "Justified." I traveled to Eastern KY to do legal work for many years and have traipsed through many a holler myself.
I LOVE this show. In Kentucky we have a soft southern accent-- very similar to the Tennessee accent. Most of the "Justified" cast pulls off a Kentucky twang that sounds a lot like my family and friends talking.
(Except for the dude who plays Arlo. His accent is inauthentic. Hey, Raymond Barry! Come hang out with me so I can teach you how a Kentuckian really talks!)
Timothy Olyphant is incredibly good. His Kentucky-fied accent, colloquialisms, behavior-- very authentic.
In Season 2, Margo Martindale is extraordinary!!!
This show features colorful characters, rich dialogue and is as addictive as hillbilly heroin.
As someone else mentioned, this show is a hidden gem on FX. I'm hoping more folks will catch onto it so it will be...
5 stars!! That's JUSTIFIED
I love Justified so much that I ordered both seasons for my daughter and for us. I'm waiting for Season 2 to be shipped, from Amazon. You really need to have Season 1 and see it first, so you know who's who in Season 2. Both seasons are terrific and you won't be sorry you got them. We plan on watching both seasons during the summer months, when Season 2 is done :(. It's hard to say which season is the best, because they're both great. Season 2 is so fun, with all the rednecks and the stupid things they do. Oh and lets not forget the Bennett clan and their pot growing business. I'm so looking forward to Season 3 and can't wait till it starts again. I love Timothy Olyphant as Raylan Givins, 'modern day' US Marshall. Timothy is the best actor for this part, just like he was in Deadwood, when he played Sheriff, Seth Bullock. Tim is PERFECT for this type of role. Plus...complete silences inserted over adult language? Really?

My Vote: Do NOT spend your money. Purchase the DVD, BluRay or get it through NetFlix.

I think many, when looking at the main star of this show (Bryan Cranston) will have only really been familiar with him from Malcolm In The Middle. He played Hal, a simple Dad with simple values and an unbeatable love for his family. Who would have thought that he can take a character with the same basic love of his family and create something incredibly unique from that. In Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston plays Chemistry professor Walter White who's married with a handicap son who suffers from Cerebral Palsy and a child on the way.
One day Walter is hit with the ultimate bombshell as he finds he has inoperable lung cancer and has little time left to live. Walter realises that he can't assure his families financial security for the little time he has left being a teacher. He hears about a raid on a crystal meth lab that seizes millions of dollars worth of drugs which he decides that he must be a part of that. He knows how to make the best crystal meth ever seen, but not how to get it...

It takes the entire season for that struggle to be resolved; by the end, we know a lot more about Walter, and very little of it is good.

There's plenty else going on this season, of course. The best television dramas of all time don't TELL you what is good or bad, or WHO is good or bad - they let people be people, and then you form your own opinions of the characters. From the Sopranos, to the Wire, to the Shield, and now Breaking Bad. And honestly, I think this may surpass them all, even the Sopranos.

Meet Walter White. Well, if you're already on Season 4, I assume you know his story. From dorky chemistry teacher/car wash worker to million-dollar methamphetamine cook, the transformation is unbelievable, yet believable at the same time. You know his story, how he got here, and it all seems to fit. The writers have made it clear for a long time that Breaking Bad was similar to Scarface - that Walt is comparable to the transformation of Mr. Chips to Scarface, and this season shows that perfectly.

Walt has and still believes coming into season 4 that he is doing this all for his family. But is he? How far will he go? And is this all for money,...

I rarely purchase tv series on DVD.......this is the best written,most creative, dark,fantastically human,amazingly addictive television show I've seen since well forever.....My boyfriend rented season 1 for me to watch and we watched it together I was hooked 15 minutes into the first episode. We then went and rented season 2 finished both in one weekend each. Then Season 3 getting ready to come out in video store and I couldn't stand it so I went to the local big box retailer and purchased season three......if one and two don't blow your mind season three well...... lets just say I didn't think the writing or the acting could maintain or for that matter get any better and damn I was wrong........fantastic. I am so addicted I went ahead and purchased from Amazon Season 1 & 2. I am into the 4th season on TV and can't wait wait wait for Season 4 on DVD. Best ever tv show! A must see for all . Even if you are not a tv series person.....you won't be able to stop......I bet someone will...

This television series has forever skewed my view of TV these days. Suddenly, my other favorite shows don't seem as engaging. The plots seem tired and the dialogue cliched. This is what happens when you've watched Breaking Bad. I recently did a two week marathon of the first three seasons and my only regret afterwards was that I had to endure the long agonizing wait of a new episode each week.

Season 4 lives up to the standards of excellence set by the previous seasons. What I love is how the writers have no fear of painting themselves in a corner. You wonder if they even know how to get their characters out of jam or are they guessing like the rest of us? There are many "Holy crap!" moments this season and it's a joy to see how Walter and Jesse manage to keep their heads above water as the mayhem slowly pulls them under.

Hold on... Why are you even reading this? Go watch the show for crying out loud.

The Hillbilly Whisperer
The trailers caught my attention long before the show began. Unfamiliar with Olyphant, never saw a Deadwood episode, nor any of his movies. After the first episode I became an Olyphant fan and have watched a lot of his previous work. This is the first TV series in years that I can't wait 'til the next one comes on and I'm wishing the one that's on wouldn't end. That just doesn't happen much anymore.

A buddy of my age group grew up in the sticks of mid-northern Florida before things heated up down there, then worked all over the south for most of his adult life and he is the only other person we know who is also in love with the show. He says it is very close to the way things really are in some of those "hollers" that he had to spend time in trying to sell his wares. Neither of us can believe this show hasn't caught on more. It is really a hidden gem.

I think the essence of the show is in the second season when one of the State Patrol guys asks Raylan's...
Terrific show!
I'm a Lexington, Kentucky native-- with lots of family in the Eastern KY mountains and hollers presented in "Justified." I traveled to Eastern KY to do legal work for many years and have traipsed through many a holler myself.
I LOVE this show. In Kentucky we have a soft southern accent-- very similar to the Tennessee accent. Most of the "Justified" cast pulls off a Kentucky twang that sounds a lot like my family and friends talking.
(Except for the dude who plays Arlo. His accent is inauthentic. Hey, Raymond Barry! Come hang out with me so I can teach you how a Kentuckian really talks!)
Timothy Olyphant is incredibly good. His Kentucky-fied accent, colloquialisms, behavior-- very authentic.
In Season 2, Margo Martindale is extraordinary!!!
This show features colorful characters, rich dialogue and is as addictive as hillbilly heroin.
As someone else mentioned, this show is a hidden gem on FX. I'm hoping more folks will catch onto it so it will be...

I love Justified so much that I ordered both seasons for my daughter and for us. I'm waiting for Season 2 to be shipped, from Amazon. You really need to have Season 1 and see it first, so you know who's who in Season 2. Both seasons are terrific and you won't be sorry you got them. We plan on watching both seasons during the summer months, when Season 2 is done :(. It's hard to say which season is the best, because they're both great. Season 2 is so fun, with all the rednecks and the stupid things they do. Oh and lets not forget the Bennett clan and their pot growing business. I'm so looking forward to Season 3 and can't wait till it starts again. I love Timothy Olyphant as Raylan Givins, 'modern day' US Marshall. Timothy is the best actor for this part, just like he was in Deadwood, when he played Sheriff, Seth Bullock. Tim is PERFECT for this type of role. Walt's devolution into the hard-core criminal known as Heisenberg is pretty much complete by now, but the brilliance of this character is that he appears to be deeply conflicted. Is he the tough guy he acts to wife Skyler (Anna Gunn), bragging about his role in "a business big enough that it could be listed on the NASDAQ" and proclaiming, "I am not in danger--I am the danger"? Or is he just a dude in way too deep who loves his family, and buys a gun he barely knows how to use, and whose actions have collateral consequences he never imagined? One thing is certain: Walt wants to stay alive, an increasingly dicey proposition given his relationship with his drug-lord boss, Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito). It takes the entire season for that struggle to be resolved; by the end, we know a lot more about Walter, and very little of it is good.

There's plenty else going on this season, of course. Walt is forever struggling with his partner, the wayward Jesse (Aaron Paul), especially once Gus tries to convince Jesse that he can cook the meth just as well without Walt. Skyler, who last season finally learned what her husband's up to, convinces Walt that they should buy a carwash--mostly to launder money, not automobiles (Walt also goes along with her plan to pretend that he earned the money to buy the place by being a professional blackjack hustler). And his brother-in-law, DEA agent Hank (Dean Norris), who was badly injured in season three, recovers enough to resume his investigation into the identity of the infamous Heisenberg. Whatever the storylines, Breaking Bad continues to feature superb acting by all, outstanding direction and production values, and a wonderful eye for detail (one example: when Walt takes over the carwash, he breaks open the frame containing the prior owner's first dollar and uses it to buy a Coke). The best television dramas of all time don't TELL you what is good or bad, or WHO is good or bad - they let people be people, and then you form your own opinions of the characters. From the Sopranos, to the Wire, to the Shield, and now Breaking Bad. And honestly, I think this may surpass them all, even the Sopranos.

Meet Walter White. Well, if you're already on Season 4, I assume you know his story. From dorky chemistry teacher/car wash worker to million-dollar methamphetamine cook, the transformation is unbelievable, yet believable at the same time. You know his story, how he got here, and it all seems to fit. The writers have made it clear for a long time that Breaking Bad was similar to Scarface - that Walt is comparable to the transformation of Mr. Chips to Scarface, and this season shows that perfectly.

Walt has and still believes coming into season 4 that he is doing this all for his family. But is he? How far will he go? And is this all for money,...

I rarely purchase tv series on DVD.......this is the best written,most creative, dark,fantastically human,amazingly addictive television show I've seen since well forever.....My boyfriend rented season 1 for me to watch and we watched it together I was hooked 15 minutes into the first episode. We then went and rented season 2 finished both in one weekend each. Then Season 3 getting ready to come out in video store and I couldn't stand it so I went to the local big box retailer and purchased season three......if one and two don't blow your mind season three well...... lets just say I didn't think the writing or the acting could maintain or for that matter get any better and damn I was wrong........fantastic. I am so addicted I went ahead and purchased from Amazon Season 1 & 2. I am into the 4th season on TV and can't wait wait wait for Season 4 on DVD. Best ever tv show! A must see for all . Even if you are not a tv series person.....you won't be able to stop......I bet someone will...

This television series has forever skewed my view of TV these days. Suddenly, my other favorite shows don't seem as engaging. The plots seem tired and the dialogue cliched. This is what happens when you've watched Breaking Bad. I recently did a two week marathon of the first three seasons and my only regret afterwards was that I had to endure the long agonizing wait of a new episode each week.

Season 4 lives up to the standards of excellence set by the previous seasons. What I love is how the writers have no fear of painting themselves in a corner. You wonder if they even know how to get their characters out of jam or are they guessing like the rest of us? There are many "Holy crap!" moments this season and it's a joy to see how Walter and Jesse manage to keep their heads above water as the mayhem slowly pulls them under.
