Great Trilogy--More awesome in Blu-ray

This is a great trilogy for Matrix fans made more fabulous in Blu-ray. I debated between the Complete Trilogy and the Ultimate Trilogy and I am glad I didn't choose the Ultimate because while I really enjoy watching the movies, I am just not into all the background information and video game that is included in the 10 disc Ultimate. I would recommend the Complete Trilogy for the casual Matrix fan who just enjoy the movies and don't want to be overloaded with the details.

Amazing Quality.
I've had this set for a couple days now and have watched all three films. The picture quality is outstanding and the sound is too (though I thought the SD soundtrack was amazing too, not a discriminating ear). There are so many things I never really noticed in the original SD DVD releases. For instance in the second film when Morpheus is giving his speach at Zion. In the HD version you can see him spitting when he talks. I saw a parody of this scene at the MTV movie awards that year and didn't get it. I guess you had to of seen it at the theater.

Some other things is the skin imperfections some of the actors have. I don't care about that sort of thing, but thought it was really cool to see people the way they really are. Also, I think HD and BR are going to change the way makup is applied for films. You can definately see some lipstick and blush on the male actors in a couple scenes. To make a long review shorter, buy the Matrix in High Definition. Even if you have BR it's...
I like the movies in this set....

but must admit I'm not a huge Matrix worshiper!! I bought this set for $21.30US, delivered from Amazon UK. It is an all region set. This set is perfect for me as "The Ultimate" would have been total overkill for a casual fan like myself. "Complete" has a light helping of extras.
The picture and sound on the blu-rays is incredible and will make a great addition to anyone's collection to be used as a demo for how great blu-ray sound and picture are.

What can I say, great set of movies all in one Blu Ray box, and not one of the cheap ones were they stack all the disks on one another, this is one of those triple Blu Ray boxes. Movies were all in working order.

Trashy films with better color values than previously seen on home video

Both of these films, particularly WILD WOMEN OF WONGO, are presented here with better color values than I've seen on other DVDs. The prints are the shorter US editions and are full-frame format, but the color is improved from previous transfers of these films. Both films are trashy fun, but nothing great.

It's nice to see VCI release a new edition of Psychotronica, as it's been a long time since their previous Psychotronica releases.

Review :
Widescreen/Fullscreen box misprint

The outside box does say that GB is in fullscreen and GB2 is in widescreen. However, that is a misprint. Originally they did intend to release it this way, but the backlash was so severe that they reversed this (stupid) decision. I guess the box artwork was already printed by this point. Rest assured that the actual movies are BOTH in widescreen and there is not even a fullscreen option. The inside boxes do both indicate widescreen.

Good DVD and a better story.
I received the DVD a few days earlier than expected, and in an unexpected way.

There was a knock on the door, it was maybe 2 in the morning. I don't really remember. I slowly got out of bed and peeked through the doorhole to see who it could possibly be.

It was Bill effing Murray. Dressed up as a ghostbuster. When I opened the door, he clicked a remote to turn on a stereo boombox he had with him. Ghostbusters theme blaring, he starts dancing. 70's disco style.

After "WHO YOU GONNA CALL," he held the DVD case up to my face and paused the song. I was silent, he lowered the case and put it in my face again.

"Ghostbusters?" I asked.

He started the music again, put the dvd down on my doormat, took the boombox and danced away.

I opened up the DVD case when I got back inside, and on the INSIDE of the SHRINK WRAPPED DVD CASE, I kid you not there was a note that read

"No one will ever believe you. No one buys DVDs...
Cheap as heck and the transfer is upgraded!

Well, this isn't packed with special features, but it's sure worth more than two stars. After all, what do you expect for a double-feature (each film is in its own thin-pak case) plus episodes of the cartoon (which it will be great to reminisce while watching, by the way) and a scrapbook at such a low price?

The real treat that home theater enthusiasts and most people with eyes will appreciate is that the transfers have been remastered and are marvelous-looking. That alone makes this a good companion to the old discs (KEEP THE OLD RELEASES because the video commentary from the first Ghostbusters DVD isn't on this new one and the neither are theatrical trailers). e-mail me for a link to comparison pics of the transfer upgrades! Worth an upgrade for home theater enthusiasts and fans of the cartoon (and fans of cool gimmick packaging, too, I guess!).

Absolute Rubbish! Do not buy.

Despite what the Product Details state, both movies are in Full Screen only, what a waste. (Unless you like Full Screen, then you're welcome to it). These movies have a solid audience, why can't Warner Bros. realise this and put out a decent version on DVD? The movies on this disc don't look much better than the ones I taped off television... a decade ago. I would send mine back, but I'd already opened it before I discovered what a ripoof this was. Had the Format been accurately stated, I wouldn't have purchased it in the first place. Very disappointing.

A FULL SCREEN rip-off

There's no excuse for these two films to be full screen only. Even at under $10 bucks it's a major rip-off. A resounding boooooooo to Warner Bros. for this botched double-feature.

Great Movies! Crappy DVD!

What a dissapointment. I was anxiously awaiting this disc mainly for the rereleased Road Warrior. Getting Thunderdome was just a bonus. When I received this disc I was depressed to discover no extras for the disc (I thought it would at least have the bonus content that was on the Blu Ray & HD-DVD edition recently released) plus these films are in standard FULL SCREEN! What a waste. Just save your money for the hoped for special edition release later in the year.

Review :
These movies have a cult following that has dissipated!

Eddie and the Cruisers came out in 1983 and did not do well in the box office but once released into video, it became a lion! It was just a "cool" premise and people fell in love with the lost Eddie. The music on this is fantastic, at least to lots of us. Michael Pare` embodies the songs he sings. Even knowing that it was John Cafferty singing, the voice was strangely similar to Pare`s natural speaking voice. At any other time, Cafferty doesn't sound like this. So the movie was special in several ways and people loved it. Enough so that in 1989, Eddie and the Cruisers 2 was released with more of Cafferty's music. I feel this was even better than number one. You also see a lot more of Pare` who I think absolutely "made" the role. The movie has a lot of fire in it and great music along with subtle humor. They have been and always will be high on my list of favorite movies to re-watch. You do need, however, to believe in the old times and love rock and roll to enjoy them.

I've watched these movies at least 20 times over the years and never get tired of watching them. Eddie and the Cruisers takes you to a period in time when music was everything. These were the days when you rushed to the music store to get the newest 45 rpm record that came out that week.
You'd get together with your buddies and grab your guitars and figure out what the chords were that the band was playing and you practiced til you got it down.

This was the age of innocense, rock and roll at it's peak. If you lived through this era, (even if you didn't) these movies will take you on a magnificent journey in time and let you experience what it was like to be in a rock band. If you wern't in a band, you knew someone who was and you lived and breathed the music.

John Cafferty has created a musical gem here and Michael Pare' does an excellent job portraying Eddie Wilson.

The music is what makes this movie go as it should be with one of the best rock...
This aint what we been waitin for

Well we already know eddie 1 & 2 are underated by the critics and we love these two movies. That being said , we waited for this american release for a long time and it is disappointing, the audio (others dont agree) but sounds great on my system . The video is sharp & bright on both. however the 2 movies are on a single flipper disc and no insert inside of any kind. (hence the low price) but the most dissappointing thing is played side by side with the canadian release of eddie lives 2, its apparant you dont get to see more of the picture , the widescreen screen version actually shows less on top & bottom and the sides are same, so in my opion this was a cheap release and not what the eddie fans have been waiting for :(
