Review :
The Best of All Worlds
The second film to be produced directly by Marvel seems eager to prove why comic book companies should exercise direct control over their films. Rather than being nothing more than a new director's take on an old classic, The Incredible Hulk is both an engaging film and a love letter to every other incarnation of the The Hulk that proceeded it. This film truly endeavors to understand and assimilate the entire history of the character into one new project, and boy does it succeed.

At the center of The Incredible Hulk is an ambitious attempt to marry the two most popular and conflicting visions of the character. The film borrows many elements from the fondly remembered 1970s television series but also incorporates many of the more important elements from the comic book. It's a tough balancing act, but the film makes the disparate elements mix together in a way that makes complete sense and (I believe), leaves fans of both series feeling satisfied. The origin and...
The new Hulk film was well made for a number of reasons
This re-imagining of the green Goliath works far better than Ang Lee's 2003 outing that's for sure. Being an avid admirer of the Bixby/Ferrigno series in the late seventies and early eighties I found this film to be closer in spirit to the series and I definitely liked that.

The Hulk's origins are played out at the very beginning and once that's over and done with audiences are in for a fast paced and enjoyable ride. The film attempts to keep people who liked the series happy as well as the crowd who want it firmly rooted in Marvel tradition. The Hulk battles a foe called The Abomination in the final third, and by the way that fight is pretty amazing, and I gather that that's a person to be found in the original comics.

While Eric Bana was one of the few things that was positive about Hulk (2003), Norton betters him here. He's such a natural performer and he can convey so much with mere expressions. He was the perfect choice to play Banner, in some ways he...
Old JADE-JAWS is Better Than Ever!
"THE MADDER HULK GETS, THE STRONGER HE GETS". Apparently, ol' Jade-Jaws has been rebooted for the screen under the moniker; "Incredible Hulk" with a new director; Louis Letterrier, a new script by Zack Penn and has a new lead actor in Edward Norton. To be honest, I'm one of the few who appreciated Ang Lee's "Hulk", appreciated but didn't love. Sure, it was too moody, nary a smile on anyone's face, full of human angst and fake looking CGI, but I thought it was reminiscent to the comic book when Paul Jenkins was at its helm. 2008's version of the Green Goliath trumps the 2003 version, with a different origin, more action and the CGI is a vast improvement over its predecessor. No, it is not a sequel to the 2003 film but a re-imagining that has close links to the "Hulk" (except for the color) who appears in Marvels' "The Ultimates" comic book.

Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) is hiding out somewhere in South America, looking for a cure for his gamma-induced affliction, trying to...

This unique obcject delivers overtake out prospect, this place has chaned into a amazing buy for personally, The theory appeared properly as well as rapidly Flame of New Orleans

Undeniably one of the most glamorous actresses to ever grace the silver screen, Marlene Dietrich stars as the impoverished Countess Claire Ledoux in Flame of New Orleans. With only one thing on her mind – to marry a mean of means – Ledoux's engagement to Charles Giraud (Roland Young) appeared to be smooth seas ahead… until Captain Robert Latour (Bruce Cabot) stormed into town and took the wind out of her sails. Though it would take fainting spells and double identities to delay and disguise the truth, the Countess would discover that the greatest treasure of all – a heart of gold – is worth more than a pot of it.

Review :
WITH OR WITHOUT BANGS
Dietrich played french ladies of dubious reputation so often, and to such great effect, its no wonder they loved her, and that she died in Paris. Remember her as Bijou Blanche in SEVEN SINNERS?
Here, in Renee Clair's confection, she has Ward Bond/Bruce Cabot to play against. Now, whether or not she ever had Bond/Cabot, as she had most of her other leading men, we'll never know. But, from the lack of sparkle in their duets together, probably not. On the other hand... Oh, well. It was wartime, and really sexy, really attractive leading men were scarce.
But, this is a mistaken identity antibellum movie, in which Dietrich plays (or almost plays) two different women. (Not to worry: Nothing psychological. Its all a misunderstanding.) We can tell one from another because one has bangs, and the other doesn't.
What's the difference? Its a parade of costumes. It could just as easily have been a vehicle for May West. Or some off-Broadway concoction for drag queans...
Screwball Dietrich!
The Flame of New Orleans is an interesting film for Dietrich. It is a costume picture, but it is a comedy, something one would expect to see Carole Lombard in. It revolves around a gold digger (Dietrich) who masquerades as a Countess with the help of her maid (Theresa Harris) in order to secure a wealthy husband. She has had quite a past and when the man she is planning to marry (Roland Young) learns of her reputation, she pretends she has a twin cousin (see, it's really funny) to throw him off. In the meantime, a poor sailor who she almost has an encounter with learns of her secret and plans to use it to his advantage (Bruce Cabot).

It might seem like a strange film for Dietrich to star in, but she is really quite funny in this movie. She is coy and beautiful with many different costumes to wear. Her supporting cast is great too. The brilliant scenery provides a lush background for these actors to create a very good comedy.

Dietrich dazzles in unusual antebellum screwball comedy
The mark of producer Joe Pasternak is all over this offbeat period comedy, arguably one of Marlene Dietrich's most unlikely yet delightful film assignments.

The future looks rosy indeed when Claire Ledoux (Dietrich), a phoney European countess on the make in New Orleans, successfully attracts the attention of wealthy banker Charles Giraud (Roland Young). Everything goes according to plan until Claire's carriage is accosted by a pet monkey belonging to salty sailor Robert Latour (Bruce Cabot) and true love-sparks begin to fly! Masquerading as Claire's "corrupt lookalike cousin", she romances Robert whilst keeping Giraud on the back-burner...but how long until Claire must make the decision of where to place her heart?

This most unusual romantic comedy showcases Dietrich to her utmost advantage, dressed in lush René Hubert costumes and sporting an outrageous "poodle bangs" hairstyle. Bruce Cabot ("King Kong") shares an adequate screen chemistry with...

Review :
Please tell me there's a sequel!
I was disappointed when I read some unflattering reviews about this much anticipated movie, but I decided to watch it anyway. I’m so glad I trusted my gut instinct and didn’t listen to the critics. Maybe I was just in the right mood to watch it, maybe my expectations were lowered, or maybe it’s just a good, solid movie – but I LOVED it!

It moved fast, never dragged, and I was riveted to the screen for every minute. It mostly had to do with Luke Evans. I wasn’t familiar with him at all and when I watched the trailer I wasn’t particularly taken with his looks, but he is mesmerizing on screen as Dracula. He has an intelligence about him, with lots going on behind those dark eyes. He perfectly conveyed suffering, tenderness and, yes, a monstrous dark side.

The plot wins points for creativity and remaking Dracula as a hero. The writers incorporated enough of real historical events (the Ottoman Empire, the Janissaries being composed...
An origin story for vampires with PTSD
Nine Things About the Movie Dracula Untold (USA, 2014)

1. This is yet another version of Dracula, that gets yet another origin story. But it's pretty decent, if you know what you're getting.

2.This is not your regular blood-sucking movie. This Dracula takes the semi-historical Vlad the Impaler route. Vlad is a prince who grew up captured and fighting for his enemies, the Turks.

3. Now back at home and ruling Transylvania, Vlad is threatened once again by the Turks. In order to save his people, he finds an ancient master vampire living in a Transylvanian mountain.

4. Vlad accepts a deal from the vampire, and begins his descent into darkness.

5. Vlad/Dracula is not evil in this movie, though he is an antihero. He is a physically and mentally traumatized man that feels a sociopathic duty to protect his people.

6. If you look at it right, this version of Dracula can be seen as a metaphor for war veterans with PTSD, trying...
Extremely Well-Made, but Rushed
Dracula Untold plays out similarly to Disney's Maleficent, where it isn't necessarily a remake or reboot, but a retelling, a 'what if this was actually how it happened'-style movie. The film follows Vlad the Impaler as he looks over Transylvania as Prince. But when the Turkish Sultan Mehmed II comes calling for a thousand boys from Vlad's kingdom, he decides the only thing he can do is confront the demonic force that lay within Broken Tooth mountain, where Vlad previously encountered the creature. Bestowed the unholy gifts of being a vampire, Vlad has three days to protect his kingdom, his family, and fend off the Sultan. But if he is to give into the thirst within those three days, he will remain this beast for eternity. Fighting the thirst, the Sultan's army and his own psyche, Vlad, a man of death who wanted to become a man of peace returns to his old ways in order to save those he cares for. But at what cost?

Dracula Untold is good filmmaking and story-telling, giving...

Review :
Huge imporevement over the past two seasons
Season four of Heroes had the show taking steps back in the right direction. After the disaster of the past two seasons, the show titled this season "Redemption" to try and earn some respect back. In my mind, they did earn redemption. This season wasn't as good as season one, but Heroes was fun to watch again. Heroes hasn't been fun at all since season one. This season finally started to organically develop the characters again and introduced many new characters I enjoyed.

This season starts a few months after season three, and all of the characters are dealing with the repercussions. (spoiler) For instance, after pushing Nathan's mind into Sylar's body, Sylar is now trapped in Matt's head. Sylar for the first half of the season tried to get back into his body, and along the way insults Matt in the most hilarious ways possible. (end spoiler) These guys together was one of the best parts of the season. The new characters this season are all very cool, which is something that...
Sad it had to end this way
Heroes season 1 was nothing short of spectacular. After that, I don't know what happened, but the care and artistry that went into the writing and production didn't seem to keep up. You noticed it in the little things like the narrative and the comic book titling beautifully done. It was really a work of love. It's like they just tired of it too soon. Sure it went along and was entertaining, and good for the most part. We really grew to love the characters. But odd plot choices soon played into Season 4 and the die was cast for the end. I liked Samuel as an actor but god did they drag out that whole carnival thing. There are many things worth watching it through to the end though. That was just one thread that was thread bare halfway through the season. Overall, I am happy that Season 1 does stand on its own quite well and as a series, it did end at a reasonable story point. It was a great show but some part of the passion left after the first season. If you watch Season...
Surpassed my expectations...
So a few years back this show called "Heroes" was getting all kinds of hype, I finally sat down to watch it (on DVD)...and though I liked certain aspects of it, I eventually found it tedious and pretty much stopped about 1/2 way through.

Then I heard snippets of the plot line of Season 3, and then I managed to start watching season 4 (simultaneously) and I have to say, just when the show seems to keep losing more and more viewers, it seems to be getting better and better.

Part of what makes season 4 a particular treat is the way that the creators and writers really expanded on the more universally applicable concepts of "belonging," "fitting in," "people curious and admiring that may turn to hate," and "redemption." Although this is full of "specials" and great ability clashes and sequences, this season is really rather character focused and humanistic.

The bi-curious relationship of one of the main characters, the continuing complexities of...

Gru, his adorable girls, and the mischievous Minions are back with a cast of unforgettable new characters in the blockbuster sequel to the worldwide phenomenon. Just as Gru has given up being super-bad to be a super-dad, the Anti-Villain League recruits him to track down a new criminal mastermind and save the world. Partnered with secret agent Lucy Wilde, Gru, along with the wildly unpredictable Minions, must figure out how to keep his cover while also keeping up with his duties as a father. Assemble the Minions for laugh-out-loud comedy in "one of the funniest, most enjoyable movies ever!" (MovieGuide)Sticky doesn't begin to describe Gru's new life: the ex-supervillain has given up his villainous ways and he and Dr. Nefario (Russell Brand) have settled into the legitimate business of making jellies and jams with the help of his army of minions. Parenting is no less sticky, and the fact that Gru will go to any length to ensure the happiness of his adopted girls Agnes, Edith, and Margo is evident by the elaborate birthday party he's throwing for Agnes that includes a live unicorn and a princess named Gruzinkerbell. Anti-Villain League operative Lucy Wild (Kristen Wiig) kidnaps Gru after the party, using an arsenal of spy gadgetry that would make James Bond jealous, and the agency solicits his help in apprehending a criminal who's made an entire secret lab disappear from the Arctic Circle and stolen a dangerous transmutation formula. The lure of excitement tempts Gru, and he and Lucy set up an undercover operation in a bakery in Paradise Mall, the minions start cranking out cupcakes, and Gru and Lucy begin investigating their fellow business owners. Meanwhile, Agnes pines for a mother, Margo finds her first boyfriend, Dr. Nefario takes a more exciting job, a slew of minions go missing, and Gru staunchly refuses to enter the dating scene. Little does Gru know that his whole life is about to change once again. The minions and their antics are quite funny in this second film, and, for the 10-and-under crowd, they completely steal the show. For the older crowd, the film does a decent job of further developing Gru's character and provides lots of comedic material in the exaggeration of the many challenges of parenthood as well as through the wacky exploits of the minions. Review :
A greatly succesful sequel with even more hilarity, despicability, girl power and minions - and agent Lucy Wilde...
I loved this movie and both my daughters loved it even more. It is AS GOOD as the first part, therefore this review follows the main lines of my review of the first "Despicable me". This review contains very limited SPOILERS.

1. Hilarity - Exactly as the first film, this sequel is HILARIOUS! There is hardly any 15 seconds in this movie that would not contain a really good gag, children or/and adult oriented. Whoever wrote the scenario was a genius!

2. Despicability - in this film Gru is a little bit different from what he was in the first part. He is no more so grumpy, mean, petty and permanently aggravated - he certainly smiles more and all his attitude softened. He remains however exactly as insecure as in the first film. That being said, there are moments in this film when the old Gru resurfaces, when his heart is broken or when somebody REALLY upsets him. His geriatric sidekick and only friend (well, kind of) doctor Nefario didn't take all this change easily...
Despicably Entertaining in the Summer of Animated Sequels
The summer of 2013 will likely be remembered as a period of sequels for the computer generated animated feature film segment. Sure there are some original pieces sliding into the fray (Epic & Turbo for example) but the lion's share of the media attention falls squarely on Pixar's Monsters University, Universal Pictures'/ Illumination's Despicable Me 2 and already the trailers are beginning to circulate for Disney's third entry into the Cars universe: Planes.

Depending on who you are, the animated sequel thing can work- look at the Toy Stories and Shreks, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascars, and so on. That said, it didn't come as too much of a surprise when rumors started circulating a couple of years back that 2010's surprise breakaway hit about a villain turned good guy would be getting a direct sequel as well as a spin-off film featuring the minions a year after that.

That brings us to the sequel itself- Despicable Me 2 does away with fancy tag lines and usual sequel...
Better Than the First One!
I thought it was impossible.but thjs is better than the first! It.s hysterically funny.touching and the special effects are unbelievable!Gru.once a villain himself.is recruited to catch a bad guy.He must balanxce this wirh caring for his 3 adopted daughters and watching over his unpredictable Minions! What's more is it's wholesome family fare.Movies this good are few and far betweenThis is a definite must!!!

One of the most shocking films of all time, Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho changed the thriller genre forever. Join the Master of Suspense on a chilling journey as an unsuspecting victim (Janet Leigh) visits the Bates Motel and falls prey to one of cinema’s most notorious psychopaths - Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins). Named #1 on the AFI’s 100 Years…100 Thrills list, this notorious film has become a cultural phenomenon. Featuring one of the most iconic scenes in film history - the famous “shower scene”, Psycho is “still terrifying after all these years” (Leonard Maltin’s Classic Movie Guide).

Room Service, Please
Alfred Hitchcock guarded the plot of PSYCHO against publicity, and in 1960 audiences came to the film without being able to anticipate the unexpected twists and turns of the plot. More than forty years later, the movie's fame is such that even those who have not seen it are often able to sketch the basic outline of the story in a few words. This demonstrates the film's fame; what demonstrates it quality, however, is the fact that even those who know the plot before seeing it are seldom disappointed.
Very loosely based on Robert Bloch's pulp novel, which was itself very loosely based on killer Ed Gein, PSYCHO presents us with the tale of Marion Crane (Janet Leigh)--who, in a moment of madness, steals forty-thousand dollars. Running scared, Marion checks into the out-of-the-way Bates Motel. And there, as the DVD production notes gracefully state, she becomes the most grossly inconvenienced hotel guest in cinema history.
The late 1950s and early 1960s saw a deluge of low...

The 50th Anniversary Blu Ray edition is wonderful. The special features make up the majority of this package because the original film (which looks great in Blu Ray) is very short. The Special Features include a long documentary on the making of the film and then lots of shorter detailed stuff, trailers, etc.

Psycho was made when Hitchcock was at the height of his Television career and it was his last film at Paramount. He wanted to make it for less than $1,000,000 (which was still a lot in those days) so he did it with his Television crew. He also to have at least one big star in it. Janet Leigh agreed to make the film without seeing a screenplay or even knowing what they would pay her; Hitchcock was so big in those...
PERKINS DESERVED AN OSCAR FOR HIS PERFORMANCE!
This film is a great masterpiece of filmmaking! Perfect in every sense. It is Anthony Perkin's masterpiece as well....no other character in film history makes you cringe yet feel sorry for at the same time. It takes a special talent to do that and why he didn't get nominated for the Oscar much less win will never be understood!! Just as Vivien Leigh will always be Scarlett O'Hara, Judy Garland will always be Dorothy, Anthony Perkins will always be Norman Bates.

The rest of the cast is outstanding as well...notably Janet Leigh as the doomed Marion Crane. She deserved her Oscar nomination for her performance.

The DVD is loaded with a dandy of an extra "The Making of Psycho" plus additional trailers and bonus materials that make this edition well worth owning. Even without the extras though, this film would still be a masterpiece thanks to Hitchock, Stefano's screenplay, and Perkins' unparalleled acting!
