I'm not exactly sure why Viz made set 19's cover have the nine tails and Naruto where he has his power, when that all goes down on the first episode in this set! That's one of the most thrilling episodes on this set is where Naruto will battle nine tails to gain control of his power, and Naruto will also meet his mother for the first time. This is definitely a set to add to your Naruto DVD inventory!

Excellent product

This box set was much more interesting than the previous 2 box stets, Naruto finally faces the Nine-Tailed Fox & takes control of it's Chakra. It also tells the story of what really happened exactly 16 years ago, when the 9 tails first attacked & it tells more about what happened to Naruto's parents. Everyone prepares for the 4th Great Ninja War to begin, including Tobi going to the Hidden Rain Village & fights Konan. This box set is epic, all of the episodes I think are interesting except for the last episode which was a past event.

Four stars sight unseen. But I am excited for the two extra episodes, first time on DVD, hopefully. I haven't seen the listing of episodes yet, but the original 13 DVDs each had three episodes. That's 39 episodes and this set says it has 41. So here's hoping for "Psychic Sidekicks" and "Fortune Hunters"!

Finally. Feel like this has been the most highly demanded season people wanted. Glad to see its finally being released in a complete set and not those 20 or so volumes they had. Definitely a buy

A great release despite naysayers

I seriously don't understand why people hate this release so much. I've been a Sailor Moon fan since the 90s, have all the old anime releases and was excited for this brand new dub.

It's absolutely great! The quality is great as well and I'm OCD when It comes to such things. I think people just don't understand you can't bring such an old anime to the "HD" standards of today. Things are going to change slightly, that's a given.

I love this release and HIGHLY recommend it for old fans and new fans alike. Can't wait for the rest of the series to come out!!

I use to own ADV release of the first two seasons. I find VIZ's release to be heads and tails above what ADV put out. Picture and sound quality are great. I actually love the new dub. The voice acting is great and suites the character perfectly! I like the English scripting too.

I only watch the bluray version though. I can't speak for the DVD version of the series. I've heard there's some quality issues with the first batch of DVDs released.

Will you like this? Well, that depends. If you want a nice quality release of an anime that's over 20 years old, then you'll like this. If you're expecting perfection, you'll wanna pass. (And if you hate dubs or have an overly fond attachment to the original dub, you won't like what VIZ did with a dubbing.)

This box set is pretty cool, it starts off with fighting & sealing 5 more of the Seven Ninja Swordsman of the Mist (1 left). Then it shows 6 episodes on how Kabuto perfected the Reanimation Jutsu & in the last episode of the box set, Naruto & Bee finally enter the frontline on the battlefield.

The Power Arc
While this set contains several canon episodes, the most noteworthy feature in my opinion is the six-episode Power Arc (episodes 290-295) that was created to commemorate the completion of 500 total episodes of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, which are often regarded as the only "filler" episodes in the series that are truly worth watching.

It's widely believed that Power was originally conceived as the Naruto movie for 2012, but was instead turned into a televised arc when Kishimoto decided to make Road to Ninja. Great to see the Power episodes are done, but this is the very first time I've seen Naruto shippuden dvd collection 24 is out on a November Month, this year which is not good it seems in a few weeks another episode will be delayed another 2 weeks, that is just my hunch guess for that, but hey Great show, 9 out of 10, I am still happy as always. Looking forward to see new Naruto Shippuden Dvd's next year in 2016 starting at 310-322, 323-335, 336-348 and 349-361.

It's condensed, but it's missing a few things

So I'll come right out and say it: Holiday Hi-Jynx has been removed from this collection.

With that out of the way, this repackaging is more about saving space. And it may be my imagination, but the picture looks a bit brighter and cleaner. However, unlike the previous sets, there are no episode listings anywhere on or within the box/cases, so the only way to see which episode is on which disc is to play them and check the menu.

So pretty much if you want the entire Indigo League series in one package for a low cost, and do not mind losing a controversial episode, than this set is for you. Otherwise I would recommend paying a little more for the first three bulkier box sets.

It's a cool idea, but....
This is a good price for the first season of Pokémon, considering it was nearly 100 episodes long, however there are a few things wrong with this set. There are episodes missing such as the episode where Ash caught all his Tauros (unfortunately the episode was banned by 4Kids do to intense gun usage so it's not Viz's fault.) that's a shame too, I noticed an episode where they're at Oak's laboratory, but I didn't recall seeing the episode where he caught them. Now the box art shows there are 79 episodes, however Indigo League had 82 episodes in Japan. Okay two episodes were banned in the U.S., and the third one seems to have just been omitted I'm not sure which one it was yet. Then finally, I believe there was a repeat of one episode in this set or it was place in this set out of order. The episode where Ash and his Pokémon get trapped in a snow cave specifically. It may have been put in here twice. I saw it after an episode where Ash's Charmander had already evolved into...
78 episodes? What happened to 80 episodes?
Pokemon Indigo League was the series my friends and I grew up watching together on Kids WB. It was exciting and fun. Now seeing that this series has been released more than once, I have to admit that this complete series box set is convenient (and saves shelf space). However, most of us have learned that another episode has been banned. According to the information I researched, Japan had made 82 episodes (US only got 80 episodes) for Pokemon Indigo League (Season 1). There were 2 episodes that never made it to the US:

Episode 35: "The Legend of Miniryu." This was actually the Safari Zone episode and it was banned due to the prevalent usage of handguns throughout the episode. The Safari Zone warden points a gun at Ash's head, and even shoots the gun at Team Rocket. You can find this episode online English subbed. After watching it, things made a lot more sense. I've always wondered when Ash went to the Safari Zone and caught all those Tauros.
