Do you think you'll like "Willow"? I'm sure you will!
What do you get when you have George Lucas AND Ron Howard, both famous for their work in the movie-making industry, producing and directing this movie? You've got it, a fantastic, rollicking fantasy-adventure!
The evil Queen Bavmorda (Jean Marsh) has for years been searching for the baby who, according to an ancient prophecy, will end her reign of terror. Taking all the pregnant women, she searches each and every baby when one day, the sacred girl is born. But before Bavmorda could kill her, a faithful midwife takes the child away from the castle. When she realizes she is being pursued, she lets the baby drift away on a river. The abandoned girl is found by a Nelwyn named Willow Ufgood (Warwick Davis). But Willow quickly finds out that the baby is being tracked down Bavmorda's armies, including her daughter Sorsha (Joanne Whalley) and General Kael (Pat Roach). Willow sets out to the crossroads to give the baby back to the Daikini, or the big humans. He finds out though through...
BLU-RAY version review
I've seen some pretty poorly done transfers of older movies to Blu-Ray format, ones that look little better than the standard definition DVD version. This one looks very good. Very good indeed.

I watched this movie in Germany when it was first released, and loved it. Had it on DVD and loved it, now on blu ray and I love it even more. Very crisp and clear picture. The menu is quick, no frustrating animation that takes forever to do what you want it to do. Play kicked off right away. Even the time menu for skipping chapters is well done and very very visible - brown blocks that look like the top of a flute and a nice thumbnail of the chapter that you're jumping to.

The Extras on the DVD (deleted scenes) is nice - Ron Howard talking about the movie and things they did gives some nice insight. The only downside is the 4:3 format for some of the extras, but the deleted scenes themselves are in the widescreen format and look good, although some of them you can...
Willow
A great story about a Nelwyn named Willow (Warwick Davis) who finds a baby in the river. It turns out that this baby, named Elora Dannan, is part of a profecy that was said to destroy the evil Queen Bavmorda when the child grew older. Willow sets out on an adventure with a warrior named Madmartigan (Val Kilmer) to save the baby from being killed by the queen. Fairies, trolls, dragons and sorcerers magic bring this story to life by the talents of Industrial Light and Magic. My favorite scene is when all these fairies are flying around in the woods and the head fairy Shalindria gives Willow her wand and tells him to protect the baby and how important his quest is to the whole kingdom. The brownies are very funny too. One of them is played by Kevin Pollack. I highly recommend this movie for people that really like fantasy and adventure.

Storyline differences between Extended Collector's Edition and Theatrical Release
I'm primarily interested in the storyline differences between special sets and their theatrical counterparts, so here are the differences between the two (NOTE: SPOILERS FOLLOW).

The extended collector's edition runs 16 minutes 28 seconds longer than the theatrical cut, and listed below are the major differences.

1) The opening scene is different, and starts with Jake in a wheelchair on Earth, in a Blade Runner-esque Earth city. The scene moves to scenes of Jake in his apartment, then taking liquid shots in a bar. Jake's narration of "I told myself I can pass any test a man can pass" and "They can fix the spinal if you got the money. But not on vet benefits, not in this economy" are inserted during this new opening scene.

Jake beats up a bar patron who is mistreating a woman, and then Jake and wheelchair are unceremoniously thrown outside by bouncers into an alley. While in the alley, Jake meets the two RDA representatives who bring him news of his...
Don't let the one star reviews throw you off
There are many low score reviews purely based on the fact there was a release of this movie earlier this year and now the extended version comes out feels like a marketing game. When the first release happened it was known an extended version was coming, but some people just had to have it now. I just watched it on Netflix and waited for the extended version. I agree if you bought the first release version you have little real reason to buy the extended version, unless you love this movie and want the bonus features.

Some of the other low scores talk about the 3D version coming, but that is weak reason for most people because most do not own and will not own a 3D TV set. If you do your research on 3D TVs you will find they clunky and costly. Unless you are among the few who have a 3D TV, then there is no reason to wait to buy this release of Avatar if you enjoyed the movie.

For the few who have never seen the movie, the key factors to consider is if you are a...
Great Transfer to Blu-Ray
I got this as soon as I found it available on the net. It will not be available commercially for some time and that, of course, means the price is WAY to high for most viewers. I was willing to be taken for a ride but if you do not just have to have it now I would recommend waiting until it is available everywhere.
The video quality is fantastic. I have a Samsung 40" 3D setup and the movie was just beautiful to watch. Not quite the same as IMAX but very close (size of screen being the only difference that I could see). The 3D is, to my eyes, exactly as good as the IMAX on-screen version. I am a huge fan of the movie but believe me I would tell you if the video quality was not great.
I would not hesitate to do the purchase again (even considering the huge rip-off in price at this time) but advise others to consider if you really have to have it right now or can wait awhile.
Great movie, almost unbelievable video transfer quality, and a price that is just not right...

Review :
This show is great. We've needed a good "horror" show on TV for awhile now.
Season two of the American Horror story anthology is shaping up to be a "wtf" thrill ride. Well, not an edge of your seat roller coaster ride where you pee your pants or barf in your own face, but more like a nervous passenger in the car while your recently immigrated relative drives on 405 with their new license. You might be thinking, well...that doesn't sound pleasant, but to people like me who like this crap, it is very enjoyable. It is nice for once to not know what the hell is going on in advance, what to expect from the characters, to rely on the same song sung by a different singer over and over and over again in television and movies gets old quick. It's usually always the same damn drivel recycled, and thankfully that is not the case with this show.

Having a show where boy meets girl is not the center of the plot is nice as well. I can't recall a series where there is more than one "bad guy" and added to that developed characters you get sympathy for, save for...
Watch this NOW!
One of the best shows I've ever seen! Not for the faint-of-heart but soooo addictive. Once you start watching, you will consume the whole series like popcorn. Great acting, great story, don't miss it!

most disturbing show I have ever watched!
AHS is, by far, the most disturbing show that has ever been aired on cable and the only show I watch religiously. Even though I spend half the time watching through my hands, I absolutely love it and can't get enough! Wickedly AMAZING!

"I'm more alone than I was in the bottom of that hole in Iraq." - Nicholas Brody
SPOILER-FREE

I was worried about season 2 of Homeland; worried that they would not be able to re-capture the atmosphere and intensity of the first. In a way, I was a little right. I personally think the first season is quite a bit better, but being in one of the top 5 television dramas currently on television, it's easily a 5/5 stars still.

It's really hard to say too much without giving away spoilers. The best way to put it - things change...and they change A LOT. The whole dynamics of the show are different this season. A startling revelation is discovered early on and turns the show completely on its head. The formula is different, but for the most part, the outcomes are the same. It is still one of the shows best at creating tension and suspense and is a true CIA thriller.

CAST - the actors are superbly cast. Mandy Patinkin as Saul is incredible as ever this season, and even gets almost a whole episode dedicated to his acting talents...
Outstanding Follow-Up Season to an Intensely Engaging Show
The second season of the critically-acclaimed "Homeland" had a lot to live up to. The first season had a raw and frenetic intensity that was missing from television and delivered outstanding performances from it's lead cast. I know I, for one, was worried about what the second season would bring, simply because the first season was so good. I'm happy to report that my worries were unwarranted and so should anyone else's.

The thing I love about this show so much is that it keeps me guessing. Most shows on TV today follow a similar formula in which the audience can see what's going to happen long before it ever does. Any big reveals or surprises turn into moments that you wish had been presented earlier so the show could bring you something new. "Homeland" turns this idea upside down and throws it out the window. Like the season before it, this second season contains multiple big surprises and I mean QUICK. You won't have to wade through various episodes of filler for things...
Homeland Season 1 & 2
A must see program from Season One thru Season Two finish. And the reason the complete Season Two is not yet available is because the final episode just aired 12.16.2012 at 10pm on ShowTime here on Long Island. The intensity is amazing. Try to second guess the ending of each episode. The thought process that went into developing the story line is brilliant. But since the original concept was developed in Isreal, a nation that has been under constant terrorist treat since it's inception is what makes the program so real, so authentic. And to get to watch the entire Season without delay is worth the price.
