Benny Finally Enters the Story
Benny, the vampire that Dean escaped Purgatory with finally re-enters the story after being introduced in the first episode. Benny is on the track of vengeance and is hunting his maker when he takes on too many other vampires in a fight. He calls Dean for aid and assistance and as Dean is both loyal to Benny and things are still tense between Sam and Dean, he goes to Benny's assistance giving Sam the minimum of explanation.

What follows is a story of cunning, revenge, love and loss with very little redemption - and it is an excellent story indeed. I am so impressed with the new season of Supernatural. I read recently that the creators are hoping to tell their story over ten seasons and if the show continues at this new level of quality I will be watching with renewed passion. After some of the missteps of the last couple of season of Supernatural, I had my worries about what a new season would bring, but if the rest of Season 8 lives up to the premier, my worries will have been in vain. I loved the opening and the set-up of the season long arcs and the introduction of new characters.

When we left Sam and Dean at the end of Season 7, Dean was in Purgatory and Cas had just disappeared, Kevin, the new prophet had been kidnapped by the always delightful Crowley, Bobby's soul had been set free in death and Sam was left all alone to find Dean, save Kevin and fight the Leviathons. It turns out that Sam did none of those things, a character choice that is sure to be controversial but that has some roots in past behavior and plots. Okay, I started watching this show because it was about two guys, in a car, killing the kinds of monsters that made me unable to watch horror films. And it was good, and therapeutic, because at the end of each episode, the scary-scary things were DEAD.

Amazing Series

I've always been a bit of a fan of action but not so much horror. Supernatural is the exception. Not only is it full of action and monsters of every kind you can think of, and a whole lot you've never heard of, but the plot line is brilliant and intriguing. The chemistry between this cast is excellent and the acting is such that you're engrossed from the opening to the credits. It's enough to believe that there really are two brothers fighting out there to keep "the evil sonuvabitches" out. I've even got a couple friends into the series. I recommend Supernatural to anyone. It's got an amazing storyline and characters, action, thrills, and humor that will never leave you bored.
The only BAD thing about the series is the strong attachment that one grows to the characters and the immediate urge to watch another episode.

Best Show on Television -- It has EVERYTHING!!
Supernatural is far and away the best show on television, and it has been since its inception in 2005. The awesome acting (by the superb Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki -- later joined brilliantly by Jim Beaver and Misha Collins) is, simply, out of this world (no cliche intended)! Put these wonderful actors together with great production values, writing that is some of the best ever done for television, directorial brilliance every week, and the viewer experiences totally absorbing wonder, chills, and delight.

Season 6 is everything I had hoped it would be, and if you haven't seen Dean vs. vampires and Tinkerbelles, Sam go darkside big time, Bobby handle a wood chipper, and Castiel learn the secrets of a pizza delivery man, then you are REALLY missing out!

Supernatural is Back in the Saddle Again.
I have been watching Supernatural since the show started in 2005. Its the only show on televison of its kind and it has become my all time favorite. Supernatural blends together seamlessly the sci-fi, horror genre with healthy amounts of drama and sarcastic comedy weaved in thats is very unique. The action is in my opinion feature film quality and the monsters this season are to die for ranging from djinns, to shape-shifters, vampires, faires, dragons, demons and the Mother of All baddies, Eve from Purgatory. We are still waiting to see how the Mother of All mystery continues to unfold, but so far its been wild.

In season six you will get to see Sam's dramatic struggle over his very soul while dealing with the introduction of the Campbell family. By mid-season it returns to the familiar moody noir-ish look that provides shadow and mystery to things we never completely see, and is something of a signature look for the show. The effects departments, both physical and digital, are up to their usual standards, always bringing the viewer movie-quality visuals. Supernatural is, frankly, one of the more surprising pleasures available on television at this time. When I first heard about it, it was billed as Route 66 meets the X-files. Two guys, on the road together, fighting monsters and investigating paranormal mysteries. A buddy show. Maybe a little horror thrown in.

Well, this show has turned out to be so much more than that. This show is a family show at its core, but I don't mean one that you can watch with your whole family--this is only for teenagers and older. The scary monsters that we were promised from the first? Yes, they are here, and they are at times scream out loud scary. I don't really love horror films, but I enjoy a good scare now and again, and this really fits the bill for me. Both are well represented here in a season that brings the show's main story line to its fitting and satisfying conclusion.

Fans should also be pleased with most of the extras on the six-disc set for Season 5. The most ambitious feature is the Apocalypse Survival Guide, hosted by Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver). Presented as a tour through Bobby's house, the guide gives viewers a detailed lowdown on the major players in the war against Satan, including the Horsemen, various demons, and the Man in Red himself. Navigating one's way through the interactive videos can be a challenge, as the layout requires viewers to constantly restart the disc in order to review certain videos, but for sheer informational content, it's hard to beat. Best Season yet!
I was hesitant to say the least when I started watching this season. I did not believe the writers could possibly continue to create as well as they had in season 4. I am proud to say that I was mistaken. Not only did the writing make me wish the next episode was right at my fingertips, but the way they crafted the story to touch previous episodes from every seasons was impressive. I found myself re-tracing the steps of various characters in seasons 1-4 to find out their real intentions. I do not know if I would recommend this for anyone who hasn't seen the first 4 seasons. The writing is great and interesting, but if you have seen the entire story-arch, you will understand character's motives and the intentions of the writers much more. I must also add a note about the final episode, Swan Song. The creator Eric Kripke wrote this as his last episode (he will not be the person in charge of the series next year). From watching it, I can tell he intended this to be his masterpiece,...

Jake Johnson, Washington Coastal Salish. I am a writer of fiction, poetry, and screenplay. I must say Eric Kripke is the man for putting this show out there for us to watch and be a part of. Supernatural is the best thing to happen to television since Rod Serling widened our mental state of being with The Twilight Zone. The Winchester family is the most intruguing in the history of fictisious hero families. The team of writers, directors, producers on down to the actors must have a love and dedecation to the show, it seems that way. I have seasons 1-4 on DVD and not one episode is a disapointment. This show rocks. As a writer who is picky with what he is entertained by, Supernatural is a sure winner, and should stand the test of time along side X Files, Star Trek, Twin Peaks and all the other shows from the depths of darkness. I advise, ney dare anyone to enter the world of Sam and dean Winchester. Check out this product, Eric Kripke is a sure talent, a name that will be remembered.

I am a psychology grad student and what you could pick up from this show is incredible! The writers didn't just piece together plots out of nowhere when they had nothing better to do. The characters are all well developed and driven by the content over the years. Nothing is lost, everything, even characters that you have seen before are interwoven brilliantly from the beginning of the series up through the present, the sign of excellent writing! The best part about the production of this show is no film is wasted. You know how you watch 2nd rate shows or movies and there's absolutely no reason to have shown a scene, or they cut in the same useless scene later as if they don't have enough screenplay to make a typically-timed movie/show; that doesn't happen here! In the case of Supernatural's fourth season, the answer comes from above with the introduction of Misha Collins's Castiel, an angel dispatched to rescue Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) from infernal torment and reunite him with brother Sam (Jared Padalecki) for a very special mission. That quest--to stop the demonic Lilith from opening the 66 seals required to bring Lucifer to Earth and launch the Apocalypse--forms the backbone of the 22 episodes, which takes some fairly adventurous risks with the core of the show. Chief among these is the rift that deepens between Dean and Sam as they attempt to work together, despite their divergent destinies; also agreeable is the season's tonal shift away from its previous Monster of the Week format (though that's still intact for many episodes) and toward a single, more ambitious story and thematic arc. The sea change deepens the show's drama, intensifies the level of suspense and stakes in each episode, and pushes it several big steps away from its teen-friendly origins. Of course, there's still plenty of the show's trademark irreverence and humor to be found, especially in the clever "Monster Movie," which pits the brothers against a Shapeshifter that takes the form of classic movie fiends, and "The Monster at the End of This Book," where Sam and Dean discover a comic book with plot lines very similar to their own lives. By the time Supernatural's fourth season reaches its cliffhanger ending with "Lucifer Rising" (the title neatly sums up the plot), viewers should be fairly hungering for the next episode--a good sign that a veteran series is still hitting its stride.

Extras on the six-disc set include commentary for three episodes: "In the Beginning," with executive producer Eric Kripke and writer Jeremy Carver; "When the Levee Breaks," with director Robert Singer and writer Sara Gamble; and "Lucifer Rising" with Kripke. Extended scenes are also available for several episodes, and the features are rounded out by a trio of somewhat ponderous featurettes on the concepts of Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell, as depicted in scenes from the show and discussed by its writers, theologians, paranormal investigators, and the like. Clocking in between 10 and 25 minutes apiece, the docs feel padded and somewhat undernourished in the information department. I highly anticipated the return of Supernatural after the cliff hanger we were left with on Season Three. So far [there's still a couple more episodes of season four which have yet to air] this season has not been disappointing. From the beginning, with Dean escaping from Hell, to this raging war between the angels and demons, this is one action packed adventure and thrilling ride to be on. I have watched this show from it's debut, and it just keeps getting better. I don't want to reveal too much information for those who read this and have not watched SPN, and I also can't comment as much as I'd like because the season has not yet finished. However, I couldn't wait 'til it's completion to fill out a review for it, and I have definitely put this box set on Alert so that I know immediately when it's released this Fall [more than likely]. Even though season three of "Supernatural" was tragically cut short because of the writer's strike, 16 episodes instead of the usual 22, it never came up short. Supernatural, season 4 makes up for the 17 episodes of season 3 (thanks WGA people!)with a full 22 episode run. This is a rare gem of a show where I find myself rewatching a season every 3-4 months (never, ever boring). Seriously, this show has become something of a religion and has re-introduced me to classic, old school rock from the likes of AC/DC & Grand Funk Railroad.

Outstanding episodes here include: In The Beginning (where we see a smoking hot actress called Amy Gumenick as a young Mary Winchester); Metamorphosis; After School Special; Jump The Shark (which was Eric Kripke's in-joke about Chad Michael Murray being a third Winchester brother and introduces us to a new foe); The Rapture; Family Remains (unusually news topical) and saving the best for last: Yellow Fever, where at the very end, we have Dean Winchester doing his rendition of Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" - believe me, you will watch that scene again and again! In the midst of this television season's coverage of "Lost"'s fall from grace and eventual comeback and the big waves made by "Heroes", not to mention the slew of increasingly brazen reality TV saturating the market this gem of a show got lost in the shuffle. Season one was a solid start for the show, full of monster-and-hottie-of-the-week stories that stood alone while very slowly giving us an inkling of a larger plot at work before ending with a glorious cliffhanger. The music was wonderful, the guest stars brilliant, and the homages to classic and modern horror were thick. If you missed it, now's the time to catch up because season two is a winner in every possible way. The first episode is among the greatest season openers I've ever had the pleasure of viewing and it shakes this show to it's very core and sets the tone for the entire year's events. Supernatural is a show about family, loyalty, faith and doubt, and commitment to a cause and to one another, all wrapped in a terrifically acted, beautifully filmed, and gorgeously color-graded monster-of-the-week show. It's the best thing on television since Buffy or Firefly or X-Files, and as much as I adore and respect those shows (I own them all and am glad of it), in my opinion Supernatural is better than any of them. The entire cast does a flawless job, the relationships are both achingly complicated and refreshingly simple, and the writers don't shy away from hard questions or harder answers. Loyalty to your family trumps everything, and you don't have to save the world every week, just the people you can.

I can't recommend it highly enough.

BEST SHOW EVER!!

I just became aware of Supernatural a couple months ago when my teenage son told me about it and we watched the first episode on Amazon. That was all it took and I was completely addicted! I binged watch seasons 1-9 in a matter of weeks and couldn't get enough. So I started over with the Pilot episode and I'm re-watching all the episodes again. I think it is even better the second time through since I can see the transformation and evolution of the characters throughout the years. This is by far the best television series I've ever seen! Jensen & Jared (Dean & Sam, respectively) are incredible!

Revitalized (No spoilers, promise)
This is one of my all time favorite shows and I have loved it thru all of its ups and downs. A show cannot go on for 10 seasons an always be great. This season has been the best since season 5 though, which in my opinion was the best they ever did. Year 10 was not about an epic battle between the brothers and a big bad, but all about brothers and their own demons. That's not to say they are not up against it like always, they are and some of the new enemy's have made for great episodes. But know all of that is complicated by Dean and the mark of Cain. The mark effects everything that they do this year, everyone in their life and makes it all so much more complicated because it not just about killing monsters and saving people, but about trying to save Deans soul and not just his life from the world's oldest curse. I find that I cant do our normal review of this show. So for me, it's more of miracles in television do come true. If you look at every decade you have at least one, and in some decades, you have several unique shows that actually get woven into the fabric of our society. They were doing a special on the Godfather, although a movie, they were talking about certain lines, scenes, and actors in that particular trilogy and how after over 30 years we still quote lines from that movie. The same can easily be said of Supernatural. I don't think there has ever been a show on TV that is as unique as Supernatural. We did have Buffy, Charmed, and Angel. Some common themes I think most would agree.

BEST SHOW EVER!!

I just became aware of Supernatural a couple months ago when my teenage son told me about it and we watched the first episode on Amazon. That was all it took and I was completely addicted! I binged watch seasons 1-9 in a matter of weeks and couldn't get enough. So I started over with the Pilot episode and I'm re-watching all the episodes again. I think it is even better the second time through since I can see the transformation and evolution of the characters throughout the years. This is by far the best television series I've ever seen! Jensen & Jared (Dean & Sam, respectively) are incredible!

Revitalized (No spoilers, promise)
This is one of my all time favorite shows and I have loved it thru all of its ups and downs. A show cannot go on for 10 seasons an always be great. This season has been the best since season 5 though, which in my opinion was the best they ever did. Year 10 was not about an epic battle between the brothers and a big bad, but all about brothers and their own demons. That's not to say they are not up against it like always, they are and some of the new enemy's have made for great episodes. But know all of that is complicated by Dean and the mark of Cain. The mark effects everything that they do this year, everyone in their life and makes it all so much more complicated because it not just about killing monsters and saving people, but about trying to save Deans soul and not just his life from the world's oldest curse. There Is Something That Is Actually Perfect
I find that I cant do our normal review of this show. So for me, it's more of miracles in television do come true. If you look at every decade you have at least one, and in some decades, you have several unique shows that actually get woven into the fabric of our society. They were doing a special on the Godfather, although a movie, they were talking about certain lines, scenes, and actors in that particular trilogy and how after over 30 years we still quote lines from that movie. The same can easily be said of Supernatural. I don't think there has ever been a show on TV that is as unique as Supernatural. We did have Buffy, Charmed, and Angel. I don't think Supernatural has fans. I think Supernatural has fanatics. The word "fan" implies that those who watch this show are passive. That they look forward to that one hour a week where they can escape and watch these boys fight what overwhelming "big bad" they are facing, turn off the TV set and then go about their daily lives. "Fanatic" is far more fitting for the followers of this show. We are obsessed. We read spoilers, we go to conventions, we write fan fiction, guess at plotlines, and emotionally invest in characters to the point where they become our family. This show has been on the air for SEVEN years and over those years there has been so much character and plot development that it has definitely paid off to be a fan. It is clear that the writers are smart because the consistently deliver succinct and intelligent writing and continue to move the show forward in a clear and sweeping development through Heaven and Hell, and now even Purgatory. Supernatural Still Going Strong

I thought I'd be tired of this show by now since I typically get bored with most TV after about the 3rd or 4th season. Not so with Supernatural where the only dark moment was the beginning of Season 6 when Dean was busy trying to be a middle class white guy in suburbia. (So not you, Dean) Season 7 continues the saga while upping the stakes for the guys yet again. I miss Castiel, but not that much since the storyline he was such an integral part of has resolved--at least to some degree for now. You never know and that's the best thing about Supernatural, it combines common elements with fresh surprises every episode. Season 7 also sort of brings the regular cast back to their original roots of simply chasing monsters while staying one step ahead of their enemies. And I never get tired of that.

Supernatural Still Knows How to End a Season with a Bang!
I have been an avid follower of Supernatural since season one. As such, I have seen the show's two main characters, Sam and Dean Winchester, face creatures ranging from demons to witches, from vampires to werewolves, from wraiths to tricksters, from roogaroos to angels, and SO much more. Needless to say, you would think with a show like this, especially one where the writers will only pull from legends that already exist, things would get old quickly. However, Supernatural has been running for seven seasons now, and each one has presented something new and exciting for viewers. This particular season presented a whole new breed of monster: the leviathon. And these monsters brought with them an entirely different set of rules.

I must admit that while there were a lot of things to love about this season, including the new monsters, the classic monster-of-the-week episodes a la seasons 1 & 2, the brotherly bonding moments between Sam and Dean, and the classic Supernatural...

Man this show just never gets old. Nine years and still going just as strong as when it began, even more so in my opinion. It's rare for a show to on for this long without bringing some kind of fatigue to the plot, but somehow they manage to keep it fresh. The action, the humor, the monsters, the writing, and the acting still represent some of the highest quality entertainment on television. I could really see this show becoming like Doctor Who or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a cult classic that will wind up spanning multiple generations.

Thus far season nine has picked up where season eight left off. The angels have all been locked out of heaven, Abaddon is still on the loose, Crowley is the Winchester's captive, and Castiel is (once again) merely human. What can I say. I am not a young fan as I am retired. I have gotten really involved with the characters, and have now finished the 9th season. I have laughed and cried. And besides that there are many layers to this show. It is about love, evil and redemption

Nothing even comes close.
I am so in love with this show. I own every episode and I have hooked my students on it. I teach high school and needed something to get them in class on time. After a few of the first episodes to get them interested it is now a reward for being on time two weeks in a row. We call it Supernatural Friday!! I have perfect attendance now. And they are now buying it. Son of a B@tch!!!

It has been amazing to watch Dean and Sam grow into men and appreciate that the writing has allowed them to mature as well, while keeping the personality quirks that we have loved from day one. "Who does this?? Crazy people!" And I am glad the writers and producers are crazy people! But its not just the strength of the Winchester but to find gold with Bobby, Castiel and Crowley?? And I want to say kudos for keeping the same actors in those roles over so many seasons. I've also loved Bella, Meg, and Ruby. Bad B@tches with Attitude for sure!

Great characters and premise...
I watched this show from the very first episode because its premise caught my attention and was pleasantly surprised by just how good it turned out to be. The two actors who play the Winchester brothers play very well off of one another and have great chemistry. Jensen Ackles, who plays the older brother is really the break out star of this show as his performances are outstanding. On the surface he appears to be little more than the smart ass big brother who simply wants to hunt down and destroy any supernatural creature he possibly can. It doesn't take long for us to see that Sam (the youngest) is not the only compassionate brother. They both want to find their father and avenge their mother's death as well as help others along the way. Add the character of the father to the mix and things get even more interesting. This show is not just about two demon-hunting brothers. It also skillfully explores the complicated relationship not only between the brothers, but between the brothers...

Described as "The X Files Meets Route 66", Supernatural came along last fall on the WB and quickly became the one bright spot for new programming. Feeling the withdrawl of no more "Buffy" or "Angel", this new show helps fill in that void, if not totally making up for it. Better than expected for this type of show on a network like WB, Supernatural is a tight and well shot show that is a little "mini horror movie" every week, but having it's own mythology and season story arc. The show's weekly stories delve into folklore and famous urban legends. Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki play Dean and Sam Winchester, brothers who drive across the country tracking down supernatural happening and beings and helping people. Action and horror at its best!
As a horror fan, I thought I'd seen it all. However, in the near infinite myriad of programming vying for one's attention, Supernatural stands out as something both unique and refreshing. If I could sum up the show in one word, it would be: SPECTACULAR! The beauty of the show is it takes a simple premise: "the great American road trip" and it twists and turns it into a whole new entity and places it in the same category as some of the other great shows in the genre such as the 'X-Files' and 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer', yet it still retains its own identity.

First off, character development is outstanding. With only two primary cast members, this was a critical issue to deal with, but Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles deliver their roles perfectly, almost as if they were brothers in real life. That quest--to stop the demonic Lilith from opening the 66 seals required to bring Lucifer to Earth and launch the Apocalypse--forms the backbone of the 22 episodes, which takes some fairly adventurous risks with the core of the show. Chief among these is the rift that deepens between Dean and Sam as they attempt to work together, despite their divergent destinies; also agreeable is the season's tonal shift away from its previous Monster of the Week format (though that's still intact for many episodes) and toward a single, more ambitious story and thematic arc. The sea change deepens the show's drama, intensifies the level of suspense and stakes in each episode, and pushes it several big steps away from its teen-friendly origins. I highly anticipated the return of Supernatural after the cliff hanger we were left with on Season Three. So far [there's still a couple more episodes of season four which have yet to air] this season has not been disappointing. From the beginning, with Dean escaping from Hell, to this raging war between the angels and demons, this is one action packed adventure and thrilling ride to be on. I have watched this show from it's debut, and it just keeps getting better. I don't want to reveal too much information for those who read this and have not watched SPN, and I also can't comment as much as I'd like because the season has not yet finished. Even though season three of "Supernatural" was tragically cut short because of the writer's strike, 16 episodes instead of the usual 22, it never came up short. Fang-tastic Show!
Supernatural, season 4 makes up for the 17 episodes of season 3 (thanks WGA people!)with a full 22 episode run. This is a rare gem of a show where I find myself rewatching a season every 3-4 months (never, ever boring). Seriously, this show has become something of a religion and has re-introduced me to classic, old school rock from the likes of AC/DC & Grand Funk Railroad.

Outstanding episodes here include: In The Beginning (where we see a smoking hot actress called Amy Gumenick as a young Mary Winchester); Metamorphosis; After School Special; Jump The Shark (which was Eric Kripke's in-joke about Chad Michael Murray being a third Winchester brother and introduces us to a new foe); The Rapture; Family Remains (unusually news topical) and saving the best for last: Yellow Fever, where at the very end, we have Dean Winchester doing his rendition of Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" - believe me, you will watch that scene again and again! In the midst of this television season's coverage of "Lost"'s fall from grace and eventual comeback and the big waves made by "Heroes", not to mention the slew of increasingly brazen reality TV saturating the market this gem of a show got lost in the shuffle. Season one was a solid start for the show, full of monster-and-hottie-of-the-week stories that stood alone while very slowly giving us an inkling of a larger plot at work before ending with a glorious cliffhanger. The music was wonderful, the guest stars brilliant, and the homages to classic and modern horror were thick. If you missed it, now's the time to catch up because season two is a winner in every possible way. The first episode is among the greatest season openers I've ever had the pleasure of viewing and it shakes this show to it's very core and sets the tone for the entire year's events. Best show on television

Supernatural is a show about family, loyalty, faith and doubt, and commitment to a cause and to one another, all wrapped in a terrifically acted, beautifully filmed, and gorgeously color-graded monster-of-the-week show. It's the best thing on television since Buffy or Firefly or X-Files, and as much as I adore and respect those shows (I own them all and am glad of it), in my opinion Supernatural is better than any of them. The entire cast does a flawless job, the relationships are both achingly complicated and refreshingly simple, and the writers don't shy away from hard questions or harder answers. Loyalty to your family trumps everything, and you don't have to save the world every week, just the people you can.

I can't recommend it highly enough.

Supernatural stormed onto the WB last season and was a rip roarin' thrill ride with amazing writing, mythology, and acting. With this second season, the series moved to it's new home on the CW, and the series continued to evolve and become even better and deeper. Season 2 of the series finds the Winchester Brothers continue to drive into a horrific tale every week, as well as trying to work out their own story arc, and to find that blasted yellow eyed demon. This year, we delve deeper into the characters of Sam and Dean, wonderfully played Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. There are deeper layers to both, and the series' work on character development this year is phenomenal. Both brothers go thru the ringer emotionally, mentally, and physically this year, and the show doesn't cheat or let them or anyone else off the hook.
