A TRUE review of the Fantastic Murdoch Mysteries Collection
The Collection IS fantastic. SIX star worthy.

Murdoch Mysteries Collection is truly one of the finest Historical Crime TV series on TV, and it continues now with Season 5 on DVD, and season 6 is also a future reality. All wonderful news for fans of this show.
IF you have not seen any, this Collection is the way to buy at a lower price. Each of the seasons are available individually, but at a significant higher price than what this listing on Amazon is asking at present, being $111.99. Original retail was $239.96. Get them and watch in any order, but watch.

It's all about a Toronto detective from late 1890's who manages to use inventive forensic modes now common in today's crime solving venue. Historic aspects of the show are as good as period sets and costuming. Historical personalities occasionally cross paths with Murdoch (Yannick Bisson). Novel adaptations of Maureen Jennings' writing, this has become a show demanded for continuation. Always intriguing,...
Oh how I LOVE this show!
I absolutely adore Murdoch Mysteries! Nearly every episode is enchanting and clever, and the characters are like good friends (except for Julia, who is like a cheese grater on my nerves). The detectives use old-fashioned C.S.I. type investigative techniques (while making little jokes to the modern audience about it), and there are real-life characters such as H.G. Wells and Nikola Tesla on some of the episodes, since they were alive during the time period in which the show takes place. I gobbled up the first 5 seasons as if they were gourmet Fettucini Alfredo, and now I'm going to get my garlic bread (season 6). I can hardly wait to devour it!

My Favorite T.V. Drama Series Ever
When we signed up for Netflex I scanned all the titles and chose this one because I like the Victorian Era. What I didn't count on was how much I would enjoy this series. I asked my husband to watch it with me because we never agree on what to watch (he's into all those CSI type shows). We both loved it from the start. The set designs, the period costumes, the story lines, the early forensic investigations and most of all the personalities and interactions of all the main characters who work in a Toronto police station during the late 1800's. We couldn't wait until we watched the next episode. When I realized that Netflex would no longer show Murdoch Mysteries (they only aired Seasons 1-3 until early July of 2013), I searched Amazon and ordered this collection and Season 5. You can be certain that I will be looking forward to Season 6 (2012-2013) and Season 7 (2013-2014) . I only hope that Murdoch Mysteries continues for a long time. This program is produced by CBS in Canada;...

Scooby-Doo Where Are You? Seasons One & Two (DVD) (FS)

The whodunit format was a daring new frontier for an animated series, but the members of the Mystery Inc. team have grown to become authentic popular-culture icons. To solve their newest mystery - finding the most awesome Scooby-Doo DVD ever, with 25 vintage episodes and snackin' good extras on 4 discs - you need only follow this simple clue: you're holding it!

]]>Chuck Jones and other great studio animators sneered at the cheap look and lazy craftsmanship of Hanna Barbera's television cartoons in the 1960s, but there's no question HB's original, 35-year-old Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! is enduringly beloved. The Complete First and Second Seasons includes all 25 stories first broadcast from September '69 to October '71, a growth period in which canine hero Scooby's voice (by Don Messick, who also voiced The Jetsons's pup, Astro) was gradually refined from murky garble to Scoob's more familiar, "Rrroowwrr"-inflected, human-like speech. This set also represents the pre-frills Scooby-Doo: no guest appearances by Don Knotts or Batman, no Scrappy-Doo--just adventure and occasional bubblegum pop tunes by Danny Janssen and sundry co-writers (e.g., "Pretty Mary Sunlite" in the episode "Don't Fool with a Phantom").

Watching all the shows back-to-back reveals evolving complexity in the scripts. Over time, Scooby-Doo's creators added multiple bad guys in cahoots with major villains, and developed sub-plots, backstories, and even appealing allies and friends of Mystery, Inc., a traveling band of young debunkers of supernatural phenomena. Riding around in their psychedelic Mystery Van, preppie leader Fred and his friends--haughty Daphne, brainy Velma, quasi-hippie Shaggy, and Shaggy's best pal, Scooby, an excitable Great Dane--chase down and are chased by alleged ghouls who generally turn out to be venal humans running various scams.

Included here is Scooby-Doo's premiere, "What a Night for a Knight," in which the gang looks into the disappearance of a noted archaeologist and end up in a "haunted" museum. The fun "Go Away Ghost Ship" finds our heroes helping a shipping company daunted by the apparent ghost of pirate Red Beard, while the silly classic "A Tiki Scare Is No Fair" concerns a Hawaiian vacation for Mystery, Inc. disrupted by a witch doctor. --Tom Keogh

Complete Seasons Of Scooby-Doo's Best Mysteries!
My earliest and most fondest memory of watching the classic 1969 Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! was in the 70s early on Saturday morning when it was still dark outside. Considering how Scooby is often parodied today, this may surprise you but back then (to my young eyes) Scooby-Doo was kinda scary and creepy thanks to the creepy background settings, the monsters (my favorite: the skeleton-headed spaceman with the crazy laugh) and Ted Nichols' creepy underscore which could build up tension like Bernard Herrmann did for Hitchcock. Luckily, the tension would be broken with Scooby and Shaggy's comedic antics. Antics which typically resulted in the "musical chase numbers" which would conclude with the "monster" getting trapped, then unmasked, followed by the villain's obligatory "And I would've gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for those meddling kids"...[and their dog]. As predictable, or even corny as others deem it be, all of this - the pure 60s/70s fun - is what has eternally...

Everything a Cartoon Box Set Should Be
Hanna-Barbara have put out this box-set of 4 DVDs containing every single complete episode of the ultra-classic "Scooby-Doo Where Are You?" that ran from 1969-1970. Don't be fooled that the title states "The Complete First and Second Seasons"; there only were two seasons.
What you WON'T find in this collection (thankfully) are the miriad of spin-offs and bad idea cartoons that were spawned by the original series - such as Scrappy-Doo, Scooby-Dumb, celebrity guest-appearances by Don Knotts, the Harlam Globetrotters and Sonny & Cher.
No, this collection is just all the original, pure, superb "Scooby-Doo Where Are You?" cartoons that ran from 1969-70. There are a total of 25 episodes spanning four DVDs, with the occasional extra thrown-in. The extras are fluff and as such uneccesary, but there aren't many and they don't detract from the DVDs much.
The mastering is done well, and the picture looks crisp, sharp, clean, and bright. The colors are vibrant and true. The sound...

Meet the Sinclairs -- the funniest family in 60 million years! They're just your average family with one BIG difference. They're dinosaurs, living the good life in sixty million and three B.C.! Daddy Earl, his wife Fran, their kids Robbie, Charlene, and the Baby, and feisty Grandma Ethyl bring a hilarious Jurassic twist to daily life as they eat, drink, make merry, and get their kicks watching cavemen rub rocks together. Based on an idea by Jim Henson, the award-winning comedy series features state-of-the-art puppetry and audioanimatronics. For the first time, you can enjoy the complete first two seasons and rediscover the pre-hysterical fun all over again.Created before the days of computer animation, Dinosaurs is an early 1990s television comedy series featuring impressive anthropomorphic, animatronic creatures created by Jim Henson's Creature Shop. The story lines challenge some of society's most basic assumptions and explore some of the most universally troublesome aspects of "civilized" life. Set in six million three BC, the Sinclairs are your "typical" blue-collar dinosaur family attempting to adjust to the relatively new concept of communal living. The adjustments of moving from a nomadic lifestyle to one of domestication and social interaction are many, and challenging issues like the concepts of right and wrong, faith, and the intricacies of family relationships are forever besieging this every-man's family. Naturally, the Sinclair family approach is to address each obstacle with an abundance of slapstick comedy. The Dinosaurs episodes regularly function on dual levels: the puppetry and silly antics like Baby Sinclair's penchant for hitting her father over the head with a pan while hollering "Not the Mama" appeal to even the youngest children, but the often pointed social commentary and sometimes mature themes are squarely aimed at an adult audience. As a result, parental discretion and guidance are key in determining whether this series is appropriate for children under 9 or 10 years old. --Tami Horiuchi

It's the dinosaurs, got to love them.
Finally, after all the years of tortuous waiting Dinosaurs has been released to DVD! This is truly an excellent and hilarious show that has won numerous awards over the years. For those of you who are interested, this is a list of the episodes included in this four disc set of DVD's which includes both season one and two.

Season 1 (1991)

1. The Mighty Megalosaurus (original air date 4/26/91)

This is the first, and one of the all time best episodes of Dinosaurs. Earl has a talk with his newborn son and tells him about the days preceding his hatching. As his tale progresses, he relates his hilarious attempt to attain a raise from his vindictive boss, B.P. Richfield, and the subsequent results. [Overall episode rating : 5 stars.]

2. The Mating Dance (original air date 5/3/91)

Fran, Earl's ever complaining wife, is becoming depressed due to all the work involved with caring for the new baby. As time progresses, Earl eventually...
Funniest animation ever!!!
As others have said, this was a show ahead of its time. Its sometimes biting satire was extremely well done. But it wasn't always satirical. It displayed love, family values, the foibles of raising children and many other human emotions and societal situations.

I used to use episodes for my college level management course, especially the ones featuring the WESAYSO company (Earl's employer) and intereactions between Earl and his boss. Those situations were closer to the truth about corporate life than at least one of the previous reviewers can face.

The hurtling of Ethel (an amazing character) was a wonderful satire on what we do with our senior citizens in this culture.

Buy this 2 disc set and keep an eye out for the next editions. I am.

A Show Before Its Time
Dinosaurs was a cutting edge comedy that was definitely before its time.

This cannot truly be considered animation nor a puppet show. Each character had two performers. The first was an actor in a dinosaur costume that did the visual. The second was a voice actor. This created a unique hybrid.

Add to this a writing team that was not afraid to make fun of itself. (Great scene - The family is watching Unsolved Mysteries when Robert Stack says, the next episode we will investigate why people watch this show when a much better show is on another network. --At that time Unsolved Mysteries was Dinosaur's competition.)

The show of course takes place during the Jurassic period and the dinosaurs rule the place like humans, while the humans are cavemen who are wild.

The first season was a summer show with five episodes. The second season was a full season with 24 episodes.

Let's hope that they release the last three seasons...

This unique thing provides exceeded own prospect, this place has become a amazing replace on myself, The concept came correctly and also swiftly Dinosaurs - The Complete Third and Fourth Seasons

They're huge. They're pre-hysterical. The Sinclairs are back in their final two seasons of Earth-shaking fun as they face the challenges of everyday life in sixty million and 3 BC. Baby turns two - and into a total terror. Daddy Earl confronts his "diaperphobia." Charlene's theory that the world is round lands her in scholastic hot water. Robbie deals with overwhelming pubescent urges, and in the final controversial episode, the family's jumpin' Jurrassic lifestyle gets the big chill. The brainosauraus of Jim Henson, the award-winning comedy series brings state-of-the-art puppetry and audioanimatronics to the screen -- and a whole new meaning to the words "family fun." Add Seasons 3 and 4 to your collection of evolutionary entertainment - and get ready to rock your funny bones.Families and civilizations are, on the most fundamental level, built on relationships. The third and fourth (final) seasons of the 1991 television series Dinosaurs delve deeply into the relationships between the individual members of the Sinclair dinosaur family while simultaneously tackling huge societal issues like sexism, rising medical costs, the negative influence of television and advertising, environmentalism and conservationism, and the modern relevance of faith and ritual to everyday life with fervency and an abundance of slapstick humor. Parents can't help but relate to the extreme characterization of Baby Sinclair as completely possessed by evil upon entering his "Terrible Twos" and will laugh hysterically at Baby's response to the ineffective "solutions" of Dr. Piaget, the babysitter, and his parents. Teenage rebellion and the angst of growing up are just as outrageously satirized in episodes like "The Son Also Rises" and "Charlene's Flat World" and Dinosaur writers poke fun at the debate about the effects of television and advertising on young children and society in virtually every episode. The complex issue of conservationism becomes all too personal to Earl in "If You Were a Tree" when he and a tree inadvertantly switch bodies and environmentalism becomes an intergalactic issue in "We Are Not Alone." Bonus features include seven never-before-seen-on-television episodes that deal with everything from the rituals of growing up to family bonding and the perils of materialism; optional audio commentary for the "Nature Calls" and "Into the Woods" episodes; a look at the incredibly funny, self-absorbed character of Baby with writer Kirk Thatcher, executive producer Brian Henson, and actor/puppeteer Kevin Clash; and a discussion about some of the causes behind the Dinosaurs series and how the program's format made it possible to address such far-reaching issues. Because Dinosaurs functions on dual levels, appealing both to children with its silly puppet antics and adults with its pointed social commentary, some parental guidance may be in order for children under 9 years. --Tami Horiuchi

Review :
Best final episode of any series
In my opinion, the final episode of "Dinosaurs", entitled "Changing Nature", is the best final episode of ANY series ever shown on television. It gives its own comedic and touching version of why the Dinosaurs became extinct, and it has an obvious relevance to the current environmental situation. Unfortunately, it appears as if the episodes are presented on the DVD not in production order, but in release order. In other words, there are several originally unaired episodes which are presented on the disc after "Changing Nature". If you buy this set, which I heartily recommend, do yourself a favor and watch "Changing Nature" last.

Touching Finale
I always liked this show when ABC broadcast it in the 90's, but it seemed ABC did not have faith in Henson's team. The program kept moving time slots, and there were long gaps between seasons (could this be due to the complexity of production?) Anyway, it seems "Changing Nature" was clearly meant to be a SERIES finale. It is one of the most touching you will see, and truly a revelation (I didn't catch it upon it's initial airing).

We also have a few episodes that were never aired by ABC (as a special treat), one of them a funny parody of Barney the Dinosaur. For this reason alone, fans who taped every episode MUST purchase this set for a COMPLETE collection. You also get two commentaries and two featurettes.

Dinosaurs (like the Simpsons), is one of those shows kids love, and parents appreciate because the humor is smart, not condescending.

Mega funny bone
This is a great show for kids and adults alike. I watched it growing up and even recorded a few episodes on the old VHS, ah! But now it is so much nicer to have the entire collection on DVD. And they don't string out the seasons like so many other shows where you have to buy them one at a time. Nice. So here is a list of seasons three and four episodes.
Season 3
1. Nature Calls
2. Baby Talk
3. Network Genius
4. The Discovery
5. Little Boy Boo
6. Germ Warefare
7. Hungry for Love

Great Series Terrible Over Priced Box Set (Save your money)
Why is the the Standard dvd Format
Even if this was the Complete Series 1-7 Blu Ray Box Set it would be super over Priced
But, i must admit I'd easily pay $150.00 for A Mentalist Complete Series BR Box Set
Not worth it (Just buy each Season when they are on sale either through Amazon, WB.com, or even Wal Mart
You can actually get the first Season on Pure HD w/ Season One Blu Ray (for around $20.00) During Sales
another Massive minus is Season 1-5 Have little to no extras which suck
I Love The Mentalist But, this is just WB nickel and diming the fan base Nothing more nothing less
You can also watch the show from the jump on TNT HD (This series was shot in HD watching it in SD kind of sucks 'Cause you are losing the Complete Vision of the Director/Creator
Who knows if we'll ever get a BR Set of the Series from Season 2-7 (But, Bloody Friends gets a BR Box Set I honestly doubt they Remastered Friends in HD for the Blu Ray versions WB just...
Purchase seperately
You can buy each season seperately and save yourself $60. Great show, but not worth spending that much to have them all boxed together.

Hope they do a Made for T.V. sequal to it
I never missed an episode while it was on T.V., hated to see it go, but it was time before they got too fantastical with their cases. It was already a stretch getting all of the main Characters from a fictional California police force, into the F.B.I.. This is one of those series I hope my friends with younger children will enjoy when they are adults, many years from now.
It was fun to watch the main character "Patrick Jane", solve cases using his lifetime of Carny Honed skills and Mental Tricks. Fantastical, by all means, but exceedingly watchable every week just the same.
A nice little tid-bit, one of Patrick's antagonists, about 3/4 of the way through the series, who played a recurring role in several episodes, is now one of the main characters in the Police Drama "Murder in the First". She earned this part by playing an excellent antagonist in the Mentalist. Easy on the eyes and very smart, I hope they don't get stupid with her part and make her one of...

This set includes every episode from all three seasons on both Blu-ray and DVD formats, along with the original bonus features released with each season. Additionally, the set features all new commentaries, never-before-seen outtakes and exclusive collectibles including limited edition art cards and busts of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. This is the ultimate gift set to keep fans guessing until the next game is afoot. Sherlock Holmes was always a modern man in an old world. Now he's back as he should be: edgy, difficult and dangerous, as award-winning actor Benedict Cumberbatch (The Hobbit films, Star Trek Into Darkness) shows him in a new, contemporary light. Sherlock can tell a software designer by his tie and an airline pilot by his thumb. He has a uniquely analytical brain unlike anyone else in the world – a man who staves off boredom by solving crimes. When a chance encounter brings soldier John Watson (Martin Freeman: The Hobbit films, Fargo) into Sherlock's life, it's apparent the two men couldn't be more different, but Sherlock's intellect coupled with John's pragmatism soon forge an unbreakable alliance. Across three thrilling, scary, action-packed and highly-entertaining seasons, Sherlock and John navigate a maze of cryptic clues and lethal killers to get at the truth. With sparkling scripts and unforgettable performances, this is a contemporary take on the classic Arthur Conan Doyle stories for a new generation. The finale of season three, “His Last Vow,” recently earned 12 Primetime Emmy ® Award nominations including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for Benedict Cumberbatch, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for Martin Freeman, and Outstanding Television Movie.

Review :
Get Sherlock!
You likely know about Sherlock already, so there's little point of reviewing it here. This set contains the first three seasons of Sherlock on both DVD and Blu-Ray, along with a bonus disc of special features (mainly specific to Season 3), which is also offered on both DVD and Blu-Ray.

Each season comes packaged in a 4-disc case, containing two Blu-Ray discs and two DVDs each. The cases are thicker than the individual release to house all four discs securely, and the cover art has been altered with a "Blu-Ray + DVD" banner added to the front.

Seasons 1 and 2 are identical to the their original video releases. All three episodes and all the bonus features are included. Season 3 is not the same as both discs have been reauthored to include new content: the Season 3 prequel is now on disc 1 and the first and last episodes have audio commentaries added to them. Again, all content is the same on both DVD and Blu-Ray.

The bonus disc includes a gag...
Absolutely amazing
I pre-ordered this not long ago, here on Amazon. I originally had planned to purchase this limited edition box set from the BBC website, but even the pre-order option for them was $50 more expensive than the one here on Amazon, which I got for $136!

Anyways, the package arrived today and I am just amazed.
The box was very carefully packed and padded to prevent damage, even being inside of a bigger box for further protection, and when I finally got to the product I was astounded.

The box itself is gorgeous, with the Sherlock and John silhouette cut windows looking inside.

The busts are amazing and sturdy with really well done details and features. I have them up on display already.
The art cards are beautiful as well, and come together in a nice envelope. Amazing work!

As for the Bluray/DVD cases, they are all very nice with the discs stored neatly inside. Let's not forget the bonus discs either, including deleted scenes, bloopers,...
NOT Region Free
Seasons one and two are region 2. Season 3 is the only region free season. Very upsetting. Buyer beware. Amazon correct it in description.
