Each episode focuses on one murder case that Professor Keating and her team of students work to solve, but also weaves in an overarching storyline that delves into a student's murder on campus. Of course, there are affairs, romantic scandals and other subplots that also add to the drama. The episodes move quickly and leave you hanging.

I don't usually like crime shows and I'm not a Grey's or Scandal fan (sorry, Shonda), but How to Get Away with Murder has me totally hooked. Viola Davis makes this show - her impeccable acting elevates it to the next level, which makes you feel a little less slimy for watching such an unrealistic thriller. Without her, it could verge on a "Law and Order", trashy kind of drama. With her, it's AWESOME.

This is so good! Finale of the season had me guessing til the very end, but I was still surprised by the last scene. Great TV!

Viola Davis is sensational in the lead role, a tough-as-nails defense attorney who has some significant skeletons in her closet. (The rest of the cast is excellent as well.) The artifice of having several law students work with her is very good, as they compete to be her favorite. There is also a background mystery that is very intriguing,and I think will keep us guessing for quite a while about what actually happened.

Overall, my favorite new show of the year.

This is an entertaining, stylized crime show that is quite fun to watch. As a tough law instructor and attorney, Viola Davis is great. Her character has selected 5 students to help her office solve a crime each week and find a way to get her clients declared not-guilty. The characters are quirky and the cases colorful. Nothing dull about this show. No one is who they appear to be is one theme of the show. There's also a personal situation for Davis' character which needs resolution overarching the series which brings cohesion. The setting is Philadelphia. Am always looking for something suspenseful with a problem to solve for treadmilling, and these series is great to exercise to. Time goes by quickly. There are some scenes involving sex, so you may want to watch it after the kids are in bed.

It's amazing how well the writers do at keeping this show fresh into it's forth season. That's a long time to reuse characters. (Nearly every character in the show is a reboot of a famous fairy tale character)

The writers keep the characters original even though they have been around for longer than many of the viewers. They change the nature of the characters without being offensive to your childhood memories. (Captain Hook is a decent person. Peter Pan is evil. And somehow it works!) The Evil Queen from Snow White becomes likable after being evil, etc etc etc. It all keeps the story fresh, rather than being one episode after another where the same good guys battle the same bad guys over and over and over. The relationships between the characters are constantly evolving.

The addition of the Frozen characters so far this season has been interesting. The casting, make up, and costuming is PERFECT to match the animated Frozen characters.

Marvel Just Keeps Getting Better
Avengers: Age of Ultron was an excellent movie. I would absolutely recommend taking the time to see it, especially if you happen to be a fan of the Marvel movies that have been released to date.
I've seen a lot of mixed reviews, the complaints mostly focusing on the fact that there was a lot of story and a great deal of activity shoved into a package that was just shy of two and a half hours. Maybe it's because I spent a lot of my life reading comic books, but I didn't feel at all like the narrative was rushed or unevenly paced at all. Personally I felt that there was a terrific balance between well choreographed action and well-written character development...though I might have liked to see a little bit more of the story dedicated to The Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver depending on how it was managed. The introduction of those three characters was fantastic though, and I thoroughly loved the change in dynamics that they forced upon the existing Avengers.

In some ways better than the original, and in some not.
To say that this sequel is bigger and badder than the original in virtually every way is not an understatement. "Age of Ultron" boasts more villains, more heroes, more action, and a far weightier tone than "The Avengers". While "The Avengers" was hampered by its origin story format and an incredibly slow first 20" "Ultron" is able to burst out of the gates with the heroes gathering and quickly storming the (literal) castle. We're also introduced to our first villains, Baron von Strucker and "the twins". The movie is dense with plot in its first act, especially in how Ultron is created, and it may make some people's heads spin. Also, with so many floating pieces/ characters to balance out and give each their due time (though it does give each of the characters their own moments and balances their screen time quite well), it ends up feeling like there are a bit too many moving pieces.

I've seen a lot of mixed reviews, the complaints mostly focusing on the fact that there was a lot of story and a great deal of activity shoved into a package that was just shy of two and a half hours. Maybe it's because I spent a lot of my life reading comic books, but I didn't feel at all like the narrative was rushed or unevenly paced at all. Personally I felt that there was a terrific balance between well choreographed action and well-written character development...though I might have liked to see a little bit more of the story dedicated to The Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver depending on how it was managed. The introduction of those three characters was fantastic though, and I thoroughly loved the change in dynamics that they forced upon the existing Avengers.

I admit it. I'm older than the age group that this was pitched for. At 28 I have no kids, except for when I watch my two cousins, who are 12 and 7. Now moving on. I wasn't much of a fan of the HSM trilogy, or Frozen (admit it, everyone has had enough of that!). I thought this movie was going to be lame and cliche, but it changed my mind. The twist on the old Disney classics. The music seemed kind of last minute, but fit the plot line just right. 9/10.

Super cute and fun for the whole family. My 10 and 7 year old loved it, husband and I were able to enjoy a family movie without it being a cartoon! Chenoworth was great, really liked Najimy's small role (reminded me of her role in "Sister Act") and Dove Cameron is an up-and-coming star, which the kids also like in "Liv and Maddie" and "Cloud 9". Well done, Disney!

Cute Movie

I wasn't sure I was going to like Descendants, but as my family are long time Disney fans, I decided to give it a try. As a young adult (22), I was definitely skeptical about the movie going into it, as it seems geared more toward a younger crowd. While the dancing was a bit over the top sometimes, it had a nice message about being able to make your own choices and a cute plot that reminded me a bit of High School Musical or Sky High. It wasn't the best movie I have seen all year, but it was cute and it was worth the purchase.

Also, the included bracelet was a nice touch and my niece is sure to love it. I bought a second copy that will be going to her mom for her.

Avengers: Age of Ultron was an excellent movie. I would absolutely recommend taking the time to see it, especially if you happen to be a fan of the Marvel movies that have been released to date.

Surprisingly strong adventure movie for the young and the young-at-heart
"Tomorrowland" (2015 release; 130 min.) brings the story of Frank Walker and Casey Newton. As the movie opens, we see young Frank heading to the New York World's Fair 1964 to present his invention (a jet pack). While he gets the runaround, a young girl named Athena convinces him to follow her, which turns out to be to Tomorrowland. We jump forward to the present and are introduced to Casey, a high school girl who is bottled up with great ideas on how to make the world a better place to live. Unbeknownst to her, Athena slips a pin in her belongings, which turns out to be the connection to Tomorrowland, much to Casey's delight. Alas, the pin's battery runs out and Casey is returned to earth. At this point we are maybe 15-20 min. into the movie. What is the connection between Frank and Casey? To tell you more would spoil your viewing experience, you'll just have to see for yourself how it all plays out.

Big, Handsome, Action-Packed Bundle
This is a big handsome action-packed bundle of PG-rated entertainment with an upbeat ending. Part of the pleasure is who's involved, just look at the credits: Disney Studios; Brad Bird (Pixar's premier writer/director); George Clooney (everyone's favorite heartthrob), Hugh Laurie (one of the UK's finest actors); along with Tim McGraw (ask any Country/Western fan) as a classic dad.

This epic battle is not just between good and evil, but between optimism and pessimism. It incorporates many physical battles, high-tech weapons. space flight and blowie uppie stuff, but it works best when two capable girls are giving George Clooney a hard time for his bad attitude.

We begin with an enthusiastic boy whose jet pack doesn't "quite" work but is "recruited" by a little girl who tells him he is "different." He never looks back.

I very much enjoyed this fabulous film. The visuals were incredible and the message is very real and applies to every human alive today. It is a strong message that some think of as preachy, I thought it was sobering. The acting was spot on! I enjoyed the actors performances throughout the movie. I enjoyed the positive vibe I got in this movie. I hope you enjoy this thrilling story/film as much as I did! And please, keep an open mind!

This Movie Saved a Life!
My kids watched this movie one hundred and one times. I have it memorized. Well, one day it saved a life.

My dog, Keesha, was expecting pups, and a few days early, she had the first one on my son, Kyle's bed. He was shocked and surprised, and didn't know what to do. I was out shopping for groceries. The father was asleep in front of his newspaper.

That first pup didn't move, our dog wasn't the best mother, and she didn't take care of it. My older son, Joel, upon seeing the lifeless, wet pup - and having watched "101 Dalmatians" so many times - knew exactly what to do!

He took the pup in a towel and rubbed it, bringing circulation to the wee babe's tiny body. Just like he saw the dad do on the movie! And it worked!

Four more puppies later, the mom and all the babies were in good health. thanks to my smart son and this movie!!! Thank you Disney!

PS - I guess I should add - it is a nice Disney Classic movie - every house should have...

Disney has announced the release of 101 Dalmatians, one of the most cherished Disney classics, on 2-disc Platinum edition dvd on March 4, 2008. Rather than speaking about the film I would rather share the details about this upcoming Platinum Edition dvd. The film has been digitally remastered for this release which also boasts of many previously unseen bonus features. The best part, however, is that unlike the recently cropped "Jungle Book", 101 Dalmatians will be presented in its original fullscreen aspect ratio. Restored, retaining the correct screen aspect ratio of 1:33-1!

After goofing up the aspect ratio of the re-mastered Jungle Book DVD, Disney got this one right.
101 DALMATIANS was shot in the old 1:33-1 aspect ratio & projected that way at theaters. For the many theatrical re-issues it had, Disney produced special "window-boxed" 35mm prints so that the theaters would not mask off the top & bottom. I saw this in a theater in 1991 with black bars on the left & right side of the picture.

Once and for all, there is no question. This was produced and intended to be seen in 1:33-1 aspect ratio.

I am also glad that this movie has finally gotten the respect of a two-disc DVD release. I don't remember Walt promoting the film much during its original release like he did many others. With the stigma of being the first "Xerography" processed Disney animated film, this title often gets overlooked when talking about the classics.

Kids'll love the nicest family in outer space
Miles from Tomorrowland (a very clever title, I must say) is a Disney Junior CG animated series about the futuristic Calistos family. A nuclear family with a mom, dad, son and daughter, they bring to mind several recent and classic TV shows. They remind me of The Jetsons, of course, to begin with, using phrases like “blastastic” and “astrolutely”. only they take a more active role in helping in the galaxy.

And as on Star Trek: Voyager, mom is the Captain (just like in my house). Like Thunderbirds, they receive assignments to assist and rescues, using their combined talents. Like Handy Manny, the family helps others and fixes things in their community of space. And like The Donna Reed Show’s Stone clan, they’re attractive, pleasant and free of serious dysfunction.

This was an ABC TV special last year—the first Pixar TV special ever—and it was constructed to break for commercials. Sure, this is a great for Halloween watching, complete with a cheesy black-and-white Saturday drive-in style movie (love that puff of smoke!), but it’s also year round fun for Toy Story fans, as it could be thought of as an unofficial “sequel" to Toy Story. it's a fun collection for true Toy Story fans

The Toy Story of Terror short film has a runtime of approximately 21+ minutes. It's a quality production with an interesting Halloween-time story, focusing on Jessie and the gang's unplanned stay at a roadside motel. The original "commercials" that aired with Toy Story of Terror are featured at the end of the film, spoofs of Combat Carl as a GI Joe style infomercial, a short on the Old Timer clock, and finally the "Transitron" transformer-style robot in a Japanese-style commercial. Each commercial has a runtime of about 60 seconds. Overall, it's a fun collection for true Toy Story fans.

As a bonus, three Toy Story Toons are included, Hawaiian Vacation (6 min.), Small Fry (8 min.), and Partysaurus Rex (7 min.). These are great shorts and add some value to the purchase if you do not already have them.

Finally, included is a behind the scenes feature with the director giving a look at the day-to-day work to make a Toy Story short.

Some of my best childhood memories, and favorite stories to tell while reminiscing with family members during get-togethers, are those times when a movie or TV show scared the daylights out of me. My poor Mom took me and my sister to see "Psycho" during it's initial run in theaters in 1960, I believe. I was 6 years old at the time and loved "monster" movies, and "scary" movies. She, and my sister and I, had no idea what we were in for. The original "Night of the Living Dead" was a grim, gut-wrenching hour and a half that left me and the rest of the Saturday afternoon matinee kids shell-shocked when I was about 13 or 14 years old.

I Laughed, I Cried, and I Left the Theater Deeply Moved
Inside Out is probably the biggest gamble that Pixar ever made trying to tell an animated story. It's more geared to adults than any other film they have ever made. It's complicated, with a lot of very complex metaphors. It attempts to tell a story far more related to the real world than any they have ever told as far as I can tell. There's no witches, magic, space-rangers, talking inanimate objects, or the like. And yet...

I knew from the trailers and reading a book about Pixar that this film was going to be different from the other ones that Pixar has released. I knew it was a gamble. But it also struck me as being more intelligent, more thoughtful, and perhaps more from the heart and soul than some of their other films (and that takes some doing). I was not wrong and I am glad I ventured out to a theater to see this film.

It's an ambitious undertaking to try to tell a story about the emotions in control of a person's mind, and even moreso when you dive into...
The most original and effective outing from Pixar in years! A true gem of a movie!
Pixar has made so many great movies over the last decade, and as a fan, it is hard to really say which one is my favorite. From Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, A Bug's Life, and UP, the company responsible for the Toy Story phenomenon has yet again delivered audiences a highly unique movie in Inside Out.

Inside Out centers primarily on 11 year old Riley. Riley's emotions: Joy, Anger, Fear, Sadness, and Disgust, are shown to play a crucial part in how Riley responds, interacts, and feels in certain situations. Joy, is shown to be her source of happiness, Fear to provide her safety, Anger to keep her life fair, Disgust to keep her from being stressed, and/or her likes/dislikes, and Sadness a loner who doesn't feel she is actually needed for Riley to function. Soon Riley's family moves to San Francisco due to her father getting a new job, and Riley and her emotions are in for an unforgettable journey.

Inside Out achieves so much in such a relatively short time...

What a wonderful movie! It was funny, heartwarming, and had a wonderful message about empathy.

I took my daughter to see this in the theater. We laughed. We cried (she was really affected by the feelings of the characters at the end and was bawling because she felt their sadness. That sounds sad and pitiful, but it is amazing how easily this movie connected with a 4 year old on a deep emotional level). It was just an all around amazing movie experience.

The way it breaks down complex psychological profiles into 5 funny and entertaining characters is fantastic. And it delves into some pretty intensive psychological concepts in a way that comes across as fun and entertaining. It's a funny movie. It's a heartwarming movie. And it's a very intelligent movie.

SW: Rebels feels like the original Star Wars!

SW: Rebels, Season 1 was fantastic! I'm going to be honest and admit that I was very disappointed that SW: The Clone Wars series was cut short...but SW: Rebels is some consolation! With all the original Ralph McQuarrie influence, it has the feel of the original SW: A New Hope. Plus, great new characters to root for and villains to jeer!

An absolutely fantastic Series. I was wary of a successor the The Clone Wars considering how excellent it was. But of course Rebels succeeds to be an incredible tribute not only to the original trilogy but also the artwork that inspired it. Lovingly recreating the forgotten preliminary designs of Ralph McQuarrie, this show is a love letter to all things Star Wars. The remembered, the forgotten, and the never seen.

To those who dislike Rebels, don't bother reading the rest of this review.

Why? Because even though I, like many, was furious at Disney for cancelling The Clone Wars too soon, I've found Rebels to be an outstanding new addition to the Star Wars mythos.

That said, I do have some pros and cons for this DVD set.

Cons:

The pilot episode, "Spark of Rebellion" (previously released on a separate DVD) is divided into 2 parts, as if airing on network TV. This rather interrupts the flow of the story.

The four pre-pilot shorts, "The Machine in the Ghost", "Art Attack", "Entanglement", and "Property of Ezra Bridger" are not included in this DVD. However, the four shorts are included in the "Spark of Rebellion" DVD.

PROS:

The Darth Vader scene from "Spark of Rebellion" IS included in this set, which, imho, greatly makes up for the disruption to the story caused by...

Nine Things About the Movie "Big Hero 6"

1. This is the most pleasant surprise I've seen at the movies in 2014. From the cutesy trailer and the stupid title, it's like Disney doesn't want anybody to know what the movie really is.

2. It's about a 14-year-old genius named Hiro Hamada who lives in the city of San Fransokyo. He's out of high school, bored, and thinks college is for nerds. He spends his time in the city's battle robot underground. Hiro's older brother, Tadashi, is a robotics engineering student who has invented a new kind of robot named Baymax that specializes in health care.

3. After some bad things happen, Hiro reluctantly teams up with Baymax and Tadashi's friends to stop someone from stealing Hiro's own invention of swarming microbots. But that quest opens up bigger problems.

Considered one of the first Disney/Marvel collaboration, the result is a heart-warming and humor-filled story that children and adults alike can enjoy and appreciate.

The studio behind the positively received Frozen from last year was true to the comic source material and adeptly converted it into a emotionally driven story filled with loss, revenge, and redemption themes.

The animation and 3D effects are undeniably top-notch. The fictional city of San Fransokyo brilliantly consisted of a mix of Western and Eastern inspirations and architecture. Colors were as vibrant as ever and all of the big action set pieces involving the nanobots were smoother than ever.

I can see Baymax as the next generation of Disney mascots thanks to the superb comedic timing and overall huggable design. Already, this marshmallow man has made his way into various malls, theaters, and stores.

Definitely the feel-good animated film of 2014.

Michael Turner was one of the greatest graphic novel creators ever to live, and it was a great tragedy when he died. 2 months before his death from terminal cancer I waited for hours in line hoping he would show up at the Wizard World Los Angeles, not because I wanted him to sign my comics (even though he did) but because I wanted to tell him something. I simply told him "Thank you. Your work is the reason why I got into comics." People were getting impatient with me for saying anything at all to him because of the hundreds of people in line, but I had to say it. I had to thank him. I used to call him the Walt Disney of modern comics and if you had read the Shrugged (which seems to have inspired Monsters Inc) and Soulfire (which HEAVILY inspired this film's world) you would understand why. Not since "Heavy Metal" have I so fell in love with the soundtrack of a film. This is a musical romance, but not one that makes you go "ugh." Mary Ann and Dawn are princess fairies. Mary Ann breaks up with the cheating Roland on her wedding day. Dawn is boy crazy. Sunny, the elf loves Dawn, who sees him as a friend. Shallow Roland still wants Mary Ann as a way to get the crown.

Now next to the Fairy Kingdom is the Dark Kingdom ruled by King Bog who bans love and has the Sugar Plum Fairy locked up for reasons that reveal themselves in the end. A love potion is made and gets out of hand involving us in delightful musical arrangements.

I have seen this movie numberous times. I wanted to be a Disney animator (that fell short) but I am in love with cartoons etc... This movie is by far BEAUTIFUL in color and graphics!! It is not like your typical "hero saves woman in distress" type of Disney movie and Marianne (the blue morph butterfly fairy) is NOT your typical "I will wait for someone to help me to get the job done" princess. Awesome Awesome movie and I can't wait to own it on DVD!! (Blu Ray if they have some good directors commentary)...

I unintentionally found out about the release of Strange Magic from Yahoo News. Strange Magic is an uplifting animation tune that also doubles as a musical. Of course, Strange Magic ties into multiple characters that reside in the Bog kingdom and those in attendance at the Offspring Ball. However, the plot is definitely turned upside down when one of the characters collects a love potion for another suitor. The energy from the love potion ends up affecting various characters in different ways.
